I can't remember when I last peeled a potato or carrot. I always scrub them and cook them in their skins. Healthier, but more time friendly!0
-
And if DS doesn't like, he can peel them himself!Signature removed for peace of mind0

and think of the fibre and the vitamins!!! You wont know yourselves! (removes tongue from cheek) :-). I rarely peel either, it's mostly laziness but I present it as healthful :-)Eat food, not edible food-like items. Mostly plants.0

I agree normally I dont peel them, but they were a bit old and so as BF was coming over for I thought I would rescue them!.
Anyway, I wont be peeling any for a while, as I havent any left.!
DS went by bus, but witht he cost of the buses, that cost me £20!. Eek. So I pray that we get his bike back on the road asap. He got the part we think we need and fitted it, then admitted he couldnt find his keys. Made him turn the place upside down. Loads of muttering, and the arrival of Biggest of Mooloo or dinner, gave me back up. His room is now tidied considerably, but there was no sign of his keys. Lots of stomping... Then he found them behind the loo!! Dont ask!!!:rotfl::rotfl:
Unfortunately by then it was pitch dark, we dont have a street light, and the walk up to the drive, garage is hazardous at the best of times. Anyway, he did go and try to start it, but the battery is now flat. My jump leads are in Oxford at BF's!!! Typical.
Anyway, he is not going to be coming home tomorrow, he is off out with friends, and they will get him to college on Friday, take him to his Judo, off to his band, etc and he will be back in town on Sunday. So after I have dropped him off tomorrow, I am free to relax. Do my own thing, and do a bit of tidying up etc. Oh and organise my clothes for our week away with BF.
The chimney sweep is due on Saturday so I am here at least until after he has been.
I am looking foreward to taking it easy, not clock watching, and getting on with things I want to do as aposed to have to do. Or obliged to do.:D
Landlord has still not given Warm Front the goahead to do all the draft proofing etc that they say I am entitled to. So I think a letter to the landlord rather then a phonecall is needed now. As they cannot go ahead without his authority. Meanwhile I am getting the wind whistling all around the place.
ESA money due tomorrow, so I shall beable to pay off some of the Utility bills and bring the totals down a bit. But it will take me years to clear it.
Getting little bit worried about Biggest of Mooloo as she is getting so thin!.
Suppose thats living on her own. Nobody to cook for. (Thats why she comes here on Wednesdays for dinner.)When I die I will know that I have lived, loved, mattered and made a difference, even if in a small way.0 -
Morning, Feel very tired asI didnt go to bed until just after midnight. I got caught in a conversation with the mum of one of DS's mates. She must have been on for about an hour. As I had put he immersion on to heat the water, I had a hot bath quite late!. Along with a Rasberry tea. (Not my favourite but I am drinking far too much tea, so too much caffine I suppose.).
Will hopefully catch up with the trousers I didnt manage to sew the other day. Thats the only main thing that I must do (apart from taking DS to college this morning. - Cant afford to give him another £20 for the buses!).
ESA is in the bank, So I can now pay off some of the old Utilities payments. Every little helps!.
Will also plan to make myself a pot of homemade soup, to take me through the next few days lunches. Will use up some of the frozen portions of food lurking in the big freezer that have lost thier labels!. Only me at home so thats not such a problem. When I die I will know that I have lived, loved, mattered and made a difference, even if in a small way.0 -
Well the day has not gone to plan at all. Well itwas a loose plan anyway.
But its been a good day.:T
I took DS to college and was going to the Post office, but needed to loo, so stopped off at my Parrots. They were having a cuppa, so I had a cup of tea and was chatting when they said they were going to Milton Keynes shopping, so I went with them. Nothing fantastic in that you would say, but my lovely old parrots, wandered slowly around with me, and when I wanted to buy something it was are you sure you have enough. Then my Mum slipped me £20, and when I went to pay for some sewing accessories in John Lewis's she passed over the money to the man before I got my purse out.!
When I went to buy a bag for DS, that I have been looking for for a while, my Dad paid the man, and when we were passing the man that sells the meat packages for the freezer, Dad went and paid for mine as well!!.
:T:T:D:;):rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:
So it felt like Christmas had come, I came home ladden with things.
I bought some Canvas's for turning into Christmas presents.(4 off them)
Sewing magazine with a free pattern for party frock)
Magnetic Snap (for one of my handbags)
4m waist shaper interfacing
1m Sew on Velcro
Heavy duty staples for the stapler machine (Upholstery one)
5 black fasteners, buckle type for bags
4 gold buckles
4 straps/diamante feature pieces for bags
6 small coloured zips
20 small buckles
2metres beaded trim
2 1/2 yards off white wool fabric 65" wide
DS's satchel
6 double lamb chops
5 pork chops
6x 8oz cuts of braising steak
3lb joint pork
My sewing magazine
And I spent £5.48 of myown money!!!!
I also came hom with a bag full of the buttons, coat hooks, and other buckles andpoppers etc. As well as the gadgets that My Mum no longer uses as she nolonger sews, so I managed to save on the Bias Binding makers, x 3 different sizes, and a pair of plyers that put on the popper fasteners and one that makes Punches holes in belts etc!!! Those alone saved me a fortune if I would have had to buy them!
So I am very very lucky to have such wonderful parents!. There is enough meat for about a month, and enough stuff to get the bags looking more professional, and to make my coat/jacket for the winter!.
I also had my lunch with them!
Right now I have rested, I will be cooking one of my pork chops with an apple from the tree, and some onions from the garden, and a couple of potatoes that Mum slipped into the bag, so I didnt have to go and buy potatoes for my tea!.
Now that all makes up for the stresses of the last week!.
Better go and start the dinner, and then I will do my friends trousers tonight, I will.:oWhen I die I will know that I have lived, loved, mattered and made a difference, even if in a small way.0 -
Sounds like you had a great day out with your parents. You should find out when they are going shopping to Milton Keynes again and arrange to go with them! :rotfl: Seriously though I always think it nice to get out with my parents for a day, perhaps it lifts our minds.0
