I thought that the last time the twins got into difficulty Mooloo had helped them both get a basic bank account? I don't get how the bank can make charges if it's already a basic account?
(It was on the old thread if I remember.)
I'm cheering you on from the sidelines Mooloo. Can't wait to hear about Friday's viewing! Hope you have managed to start some packing as you'll soon be in your new home!0 -

If her bills were set up as Direct Debits on her basic account and they bounced then the bank still add charges.0 -
Gizmo, I still havent a clue who the guardian is.! Cant seem to get my act together, did ask twin2 for the information, but she forgot. Cannot get it from her solicitor (3rd Party) unless its when invited into the conversation by twin2 and her solicitor so I will have to chase the Social Worker and ask. I forgot yesterday when she rang me. (I was still in bed at the time, so not all my facculties were awake!).
There doesnt seem to be a food bank anywhere close to Twin1. But I will try and contact the MK one and see if they can help. Bit far though.
I have taken on her TV license, to stop any huge fines.
I have also taken on her Water bill, as she keeps forgetting that one.
I shall look into the basic accounts. I think it was twin2 that I got sorted out last time.
(then she still started to use the old account, as they hadnt closed it, and once the debt was clear she used it again!.. )
Twin1 was managing her money reasonably well considering, until she lost DGD, then her money was reduced, and reduced, and reduced, and she cannot cope.
I am finding it difficult to support them, getting them places etc with my own busy and hectic life.
I am very forgetful these days, and what I mean to do, or intend doing often now just doesnt get done, as I am exhausted just living my own life.
Day to Day is really enough for me to deal with. The rest is quite an effort.
I am going to be leaving DGD with my parents around lunchtime, while I take her mum to the bank to see where she is, an what can be done about it all. The debts etc anyway.
Time for some breakfast.
DS came home last night, reluctantly I think. But he seems to be unwell, and has stomach aches so we are no longer dashing to take him to college. I shall keep him at home and see what is really up, and hope that he is not conning me.
We will be going to see the house tomorrow. Lets hope he will be enthusiastic about this one. When I die I will know that I have lived, loved, mattered and made a difference, even if in a small way.0 -
Well what a hectic day that has been! I am exhausted.
I havent managed to stop until about 20 minutes ago.
I litterally went from one thing to the next.
It was lovely to see the two boys. Yet again in brand new outfits. The woman they are with buys them new clothes every week. When we asked what we could get DS1 for his birthday, etc there was nothing that he hadnt been bought already! he has a scooter, a trampoline, a bike, toy cars, trains, etc etc. Everything we said, keyboards, drums, (we know he has a guitar as we gave him his old one and she said he already had one at home>) Its so frustrating. She wont give us an idea of what we could get, and yet when we say something, he already has it all.
So I have said then we will just get a token for him to open, and then put money into a bank account for when he is older.
Its good to know they have things, but I fear he is also being spoilt. No Mum on benefits can compete with that. JSA doesnt give enough to keep the house nevermind themselves and gifts for the children.
Twin1 and I went to the bank, but nobody was available to see us, nor will they until next week. Which really is not good enough.
We went to another bank to try to open an account and getting to see someone about opening an account is also not available until the end of next week! Frustrated to the nth degree.
Bankcharges for being 0.01p over her overdraft were at a £6 a day, and other charges add up to £84+ to be taken out of her account on the 1st december, when she is already £280+ overdrawn. With only £102 a fortnight going into the bank to live on, you can see that its an impossible battle. Then of course the bus fares for her to go into the jobcentre and college add up to £48 a fortnight.
Then there is normal living expenses, like TV license, Water, Eletctric, Food, Clothing, telephone, mobile, and any other bill thats normal to a householder! Its a nightmare. how do others cope?
The reason she only gets £102 is that the DWP are taking out payments for the crisis loans that she has had.
I am so stressed with it all.
Now I will have to go through it all, all over again next week, just as I am trying to do the arrangements for moving.
I think I need to go and get a cup of tea, and just relax a bit. If DGD will just stop being a terror!
DS is unwell, but well enough to have just made some beans on toast. He looks terrible! He is huddled up with covers like the abomnable snowman, especailly as he has my white (fake) fur bed throw wrapped all around him too!
Without it, he looks painfully thin to me. I worry what he has been surviving on when he hasnt been coming home.
So all in all, my aim to let the family get on with it, has just not worked out at all!.When I die I will know that I have lived, loved, mattered and made a difference, even if in a small way.0 -
Mooloo why don't you ring the co-operative bank and open a cashminder account over the phone for her. You get a debit card ad have facility for online banking and direct debits etc and there is no facility for overdraft or even going over what your available balance is. You should get the card etc within a few days and they accept anyone (even bankrupts - hence why i have this account being an ex-br too). That way you dont have to wait to see anyone a new account sorted for her.Officially BR at 2.10pm on 6th May 2009, ED 7th December 2009

Actually I am with them. They sorted me out when I was made bankrupt. Actually before I was, when i new I was going to be.
Now I have 3 cashminder accounts with them
One for Rent, One for the Carers money and the other for living.
Although now I have also been allowed to open an ISA with them, and of course a savings account. (Hence the council want all my last two months statements. They have found out I have 5 accounts some how.) Not that there is anything to hide, just a lot of bank transfers all the time to get the money in the correct account at the right time.
Only problem is that the co-op are few and far between. For Twin1 she likes to use the bank that the card is from.! But we may get over that problem. When I die I will know that I have lived, loved, mattered and made a difference, even if in a small way.0 -
Long time lurker here. If twin1 is at college they should have a finance/welfare person who may be able to access emergency funding to assist students who live independantly.0

You could ring your local CAFCASS and ask who it is.topsyturphy wrote: »Long time lurker here. If twin1 is at college they should have a finance/welfare person who may be able to access emergency funding to assist students who live independantly.
They may also be able to help with bus fares to college from their access to learning fund.Mama read so much about the dangers of drinking alcohol and eating chocolate that she immediately gave up reading.0 -
Evening All,
Went to see the new house this morning. Alas it is behind the schedule, and the builders said that it would be at least another two weeks.
On the plus side it gives me time to find the carpets etc. It also saves me £100 in rent!
The house is small, but it will all be new. They have completely gutted it, except for the stairs and some of the walls really. It has new gas central heating going in., They have changed the layout of the kitchen to accommodate my request for a right handed sink drainer. They are putting in the grab rails that I need, and the shower on the wall over the bath for me. They have lowered the bath as much as they can with in the safetly levels, and now they have rearranged the bathroom layout, and removed a cupboard and a doorway, giving me more room.
They are blocking in the fireplace, and removing the old tiled surround.
They are going to remove the broken shed and sort out the rubbish in the garden. They have renewed all the doors in the house.
Its going to be a blank canvas, and basically decorated for me. (That will be magnolia then!!).
The floors are wooden. So I may possibly sand the frontroom, and have a rug, depending on my budget. Biggest of Mooloo's boyfriend will do the sanding for me, if I want it done.
DS came with me to look at it, and sorted out the room he was having etc. He seemed happy enough. Lets hope he stays that way about it.
He has gone back to his friends today.
Its the twins birthday today. So I have managed to see both of them today.
My Parents also came with me to see the house. My mum is happier now that she has seen where it is, and what its going to be like. Its a good job I have an imagination and can visualise the place finished!
Right meal time, i am starving, i missed both breakfast and lunch, and only had a packet of mini chedders and a yoghurt today!
Mince and potatoes here I come. When I die I will know that I have lived, loved, mattered and made a difference, even if in a small way.0 -
