How many moves have you all followed me so far?
The flat to cowley, cowley to Towcester, Towcester to here, you'll all be veterans as well!

You can say that again, I'm crackered with it :D

Don't panic - if push comes to shove, shove stuff in bin bags. You will have 30 years in your new house to sort it out ;)

Does the BF have a trailer? Can he borrow one? He and DS could heave the heavy stuff.

Just a thought re carpets. How about end of roll cheap vynil for the bedrooms/bathroom/kitchen? Just to get you started, it would be cheaper than even end of roll carpet. Although you may find the kitchen and bathroom may have some kind of heavy duty vynil type tiles, council housing often does.
.................:)....I'm smiling because I have no idea what's going on ...:)
  • Does this move put you closer or further from BF?
  • Don't worry about the nursery funding mooloo, the new nursery will also be able to sort this out for you, just contact the local family information service to get a list of nurseries and pre-schools near your new address, then you will have plenty of time to visit and choose the one best for you both, glad you had a good holiday I'm off there tomorrow :)

I must not fear. Fear is the mind-killer.
Fear is the little-death that brings total obliteration.
I will face my fear. I will permit it to pass over and through me. When it has gone past I will turn the inner eye to see its path.
When the fear has gone there will be nothing. Only I will remain.

Trying desperately to remember the name of our resident and SO helpful SW, am I right in thinking we haven't seen her here for a bit? If I'm right, then is it worth sending her a PM to share the good news and ask her to post if she has any ideas about help with moving / decorating / flooring / furniture.

Another thought, if Mooloo and Molly told us what the nearest 'useful' shops are for things like flooring / decorating / furniture etc we could all look out for bargains which might be available. No point spotting a bargain in Homebase if the nearest one is 30 miles away, for example.

And the HA I used to work for would give decorating vouchers in some cases. I know it covered paint, vouchers for the nearby Dulux store, (for example if the previous tenant painted the bathroom black!), can't remember if it ever covered carpets or flooring, but it MIGHT have done. Obviously there won't be a case for giving paint, but maybe flooring? Of course they should have mentioned it, but not always.

I think the house is going to be updated by the council, if that's the case all rooms will be painted probably with the dreaded magnolia. I don't think flooring is usually provided except for kitchen and bathroom, and with the current cutbacks it probably won't be.
