Hi Mooloo I thought maybe this article would give you some pointers for when the childrens future is under discussion and maybe that facebook group could give you some pointers as well.
hope it is of some use.
I dont want to scare you or anything but forewarned is forearmed as my old mum used to say.

Gosh mommame. That story bought a real tear to my eye. Such a shame for those two children. I find it unbelievable in this day and age that things like that still go on. Yet on the flip side, I can think of about 10 children's families who have been reported to social services for neglect and nothing has been done. Why does the support vary so much? One child I am thinking of is dirty, smelly, in need of nails cutting, riddled with nits and severely underweight.... you get the picture. Yet is still living at home?! It makes me so angry!0

Yes, I myself reported an individual who actually nailed his epileptic 8 year old daughter in the shed and sat listening to her screaming for over an hour pleading to be left out and she would be good.
The police came and took him away but let him out after a few hours back to the children again.
Those kids were in the same state as your example and the 8 year old was left to look after 3 younger children for hours on end.
I caught them eating the dry bread I put out for the birds one morning and they also stole peoples milk from their doorsteps.
I was always bringing them in and giving them soup, cornflakes ,etc but the social were not interested.
Dont know where they went but never forgot that little girls haunted look.
Here we are with mooloo's situation with a loving family who just need some help to stay that way but they would rather split them all up instead of giving them the support they need.0 -
Good old Daily Mail.Mama read so much about the dangers of drinking alcohol and eating chocolate that she immediately gave up reading.0

Good old Daily Mail.
I would have said good old social services myself, they have absolutely no continuity regarding the handling of cases, it seems to be a case of if mr decision maker has had a barney with the wife this morning or if he has had a s88g fest all weekend weteher you get to keep your kids this week or not.
Not a fan of Daily mail myself but someone has to fight these poor peoples corner with them.0 -
Good old Daily Mail.
So Gizmo are you saying that there is no truth to this or any other story in the Daily Mail?
I know Social Services have had a rough time of it since baby P and it can't be an easy job to do but sometimes I do wonder if they are too quick to take children away rather than work with families that are really trying as appears to be the case here (although I appreciate that we are probably getting a biased view). Or why they don't seem to take action in cases where it is obvious to those around that there is a real problem (like a couple of examples above).
I also wonder if it depends upon the area you live in and the way the resources are shared out as to what help is available to help families in need - a bit like in one area you can get a certain treatment on the NHS and in another area you can't in the medical field.
I really am not trying to have a go, I am genuinely interested to hear your take on it.
Oh for a world where no children are in danger whether it is through poverty, neglect, abuse or illness. (I know I am being incredibly naive saying that, but I can live in hope).
Sorry to hijack Mooloo's thread.:j Proud Member of Mike's Mob :j0 -

Hello,
I already have enough to deal with, and so with Respect, I am not going to read ths link.
Numer one, I never read the newspapers, at all.
Havent had a paper delivered for over 18 years, and I am not starting now.
Number two. I have enough to deal with with the sitution we are in, without being scared to death with traumatic informtion which will set my Flight/fight stress levels any further then they already are.
I realise that I have not had a brilliant run with "Social Services" but I do believe that they are doing an incredibly hard job, and are stretched to the limits.
I do get the Community Care Newletter emailed to me, and occasionally I do read more than the headlines but quite rarely really.
Gizmo, has been a very generous and helpful Social Worker who has helped me, with my situation, and as a result of her help, we have secured quite a lot.!
The currenty Fostering Team Social Worker who is helping on my behalf has also been a very good worker.
I hhope that you will understand that this is my decision.
I know that my boys are most likely going to have to be rehomed if they cannot be returned to my daughter, or possibly the other family of the boys, fathers sides.
Talking of my boys, there is a sudden notification of a court case tomorrow afternoon, and so I am going to be driving twin2 to this as she has asked me.
I could have used the Someone Elses Problem, but at such short notice, I cannot be that cruel. When I die I will know that I have lived, loved, mattered and made a difference, even if in a small way.0 -

It's not a 'fetch me, carry me' request, and perhaps she needs the comfort of mum by her side tomorrow......................I'm smiling because I have no idea what's going on ...:)
