Mooloo pleased the meeting went relatively ok enjoy your cuppa , started knitting myself a sleveless jumper/tank top yesterday i normally only do little projects as i bore easily and prefer knitting as it can be picked up and put down without dragging loads of stuff out .....wouldn't it be nice to have a craft room you could close the door on

taggie looks good , my eldest used to play with the labels in his clothe and could not sleep with out fiddling with the label on his pillow a taggie would have been a great idea .If you need to buy fleece Mr A have fleece blankets for £3 or was it £2 in cream /red/chocolate

you mentioned buying lining for bags dont forget sheets!!

Thanks Shaz, I will use what we have left from DGD and DGS, and then see if I have to buy things. ! I have been naughty buying odds and ends from some of the lovely sights! Now I have a good selection of things to experiment with.
applique is one thing I havent really done and need to master. At least with recycled fabrics I am not wasting everything. The fabrics I have ordered are either remenants of things that I need to extend the bits I have. If you understand what I mean.
I used to knit occasionally but BF was put off when I picked up knitting needles, he said I didnt look right! So I stopped.

I used to have a lovely craft/work room converted on the side of my house etc (Before Bankrupcy). Alas now its a dream away.!!

The dining table is here in the sitting room, and my bits are all over the floor/table in here and in my bedroom! cannot move in my bedroom for things at the moment. and that includes thefamily ironing pile:o
Tomorrow eh? Does tomorrow ever come.?:D

I am certainly inspired to sew though. Just have to watch my arm!.

Think that I may draw up somemore hearts with a lovely dress fabric I have at the moment. Then I have to send some off in the post soon.
I still havent got much for my stall, as I keep doing things for others! but I am not complaining. Its all piece work. It keeps me sane, (if thats possible) and focusing on sewing is better then worrying about the family:(

It was our pleasure and we both really enjoyed our day too although my DD is exhausted and a bit emotional as she is getting herself in a state as its results day tomorrow. Your DGD was absolutely perfect - no fuss, no tantrums and talkative and happy. She was adventurous in the soft play and very sociable making little friends along the way. A real credit to you and coming on in leaps and bounds! Of course they have to recommend you to foster her - they only have to take one look at her x

    Thankyou x:T

I don't get the machine out much these days, but I remember my first attempt at applique a while ago on some cushion cases I made. It was a piece of cake.

I have some cheap bits of felt I bought in the pound shops on Monday, so I will have a go, may try some later tonight. See how the arm is!
Silly but I am getting excited about the prospect of all of the things that I could make. When I was doing the dresses it was all ordered months in advance, and I was sick of the same sort of things all the time. I didnt have time for playing with craft works! :D

I found the trick was to tack really well before machining.

    Knickers

Sorry Mooloo, couldn't resist, I had a knicker purge last week & threw away all my grotty ones, I carefully cut off all the bows & other decorations off them first, I then decided I needed an extra bow for something I was sewing so cut the decorations of every other pair I have.

I have in the past kept all sorts of things. Alas it mostly all went to the college when i changed trades! However I have learnt how to make small bows for decoration etc, like the knicker ones!

talking of knicker purges, its probably a good excuse for me to purge mine! The draw looks full, but I dont wear half of it any more.

I used to make underwear just before I became involved with the wedding shop! Not structured stuff, just cami's, teddies, and french knickers etc.
Dont have any fabric available for that, although have thought of making DGD some out of Tshirts! But Mr Primarni is so cheap for them I hadnt bothered. Now I have the bug to sew we will just see what everything comes my way will end up as!!
Talking of sewing I unpicked 51/2metres of fabric, 24cm wide, off of the dress I was doing last night.! Now that is destined for more than just some hearts!
Time to get tea things cleared up, and get on with drawing up things while DGD is watching her bedtime hour, wind down stuff! :)

Morning, begrudgingly I had to get out of my lovely cosy bed at 6am as DGD wanted "I need a wee granny" and she wouldnt use the potty in her room. So we had to come downstairs. That means no returning to bed!
I was too tired to do much last night, all I did was cut out half a dozen or so hearts, ready to sew.
We have to go out, just to get milk!! I have non left, and I forgot to get any on my way home yesterday. I am cross with myself, as I didnt need to go anywhere today, and the car fuel light came on, as I was on the last 8 miles coming home. So I have to put fuel in the car now as well.! Just not on the ball at all!. I could get by with powdered milk if I had too, but DGD will need proper milk.!

I hope today doesnt end up as a wild goose chase day! I wanted it to be a relaxed one!

  • i'm pretty sure that you can freeze milk? i'v never tried it tho, that might be handy for an emergancy bottle, also you could have a carton of long life in the cupboard then when you get down to half a bottle you could go on to long life for yourself and use fresh for dgd
i always have a tub of coffee mate in as well for if we run out

Semi skimmed milk freezes well. I always have 4 x 1 pint bottles in my freezer.
Up at 6am ! I bet you both enjoy a nap after lunch.
