I am currently having a battle of wills with dGD.
She is over tired, and dispite it being late in the day, she really needs a rest. I tried to put her down earlier and she thwarted me by needing the potty.
now she is wrecking her bedroom, and throwing all her things out of the bed. Her books she likes to go down with, her drink and her dummy. Now she is shouting at me to get her dummy. But I am not going anywhere near her becuase she has been hitting me. So I have told her she has to stay in her room.
My arm hurts from getting her up there, and from being hit while I did so. But she cannot rule the roost!.
She may only be 2 but she has one hell of a swing on her when she hits!
I can hear her shouting at me Granny come back, and then another thud as she find something else to throw!.
Its times like this when I think I must be mad!. But I am going to stay calm, drink my cup of tea, and then go up, in my own time. When I die I will know that I have lived, loved, mattered and made a difference, even if in a small way.0 -
Hi Mooloo
I've never responded to a post of yours before but have been following your story for some time now. Your DGD is the same age as my DD and their behaviour is very similar. She's also far to clever for her age
You're doing the right thing by leaving her to to get on with her temper tantrum and when she's calmed down and ready you can then give her a kiss and a cuddle. Sometimes they get so overactive and stimulated they just have to explode.
Your doing a wonderful job with everything that has been thrown at you and you continue to be in my thoughts.0 -

Hello Cherytree,
Thanks for the reassurance. Its been a long time since I had such small ones, and I do wonder about my sanity at times!.
She is downstairs watching Cbbies now.
Alas she went one extra on me, and managed to smash the lightbulb in the bedroom. throwing her books at it!! so we have had to clean up splinters of glass, and remove the metal remains out of the socket! No fun. I bet there will still be shards of glass somewhere!! I even had to get it out of the bed!.
She will be going to bed early tonight, as she didnt sleep today.
But for now its peaceful in the cottage.
We are going to make somesort of concoction for our tea, as we have picked, fresh peas, carrots, and while my back has been turned my courgettes have turned into practically marrows!!!:rotfl:
so porkchops and a medley of vegetables that we picked.
DS is stopping out tonight, staying at twin2's.
We spoke on the phone earlier, he said dont die of shock mum but the house is tidy!!! and they have had a new washingmachine delivered. So at last I do not have to do their washing anymore. She has also agreed to help do her sisters washing!!!
I am going to make great savings on washingpowder, and electricity now.
talking of electric I missed the meter man, so when DS gets home tomorrow, I will have to get him to reach the meter and read it for me. Send them the dreaded details and we can work out how much i need to change my S/O to them. I know its going to be high, as they havent billed me since January!. eek.
The sewing hasnt gone very well today. I tried to make a hotwater bottle cover for DGD's bottle, out of the same pjamas fabrics and some padding from the rest of the moses basket stuff, and i made it a bit too small, so its a tight squeeze getting the bottle in.
I have sewn some flags ready for some bunting, but the hearts are all wonky!! I dont think my hand has been as steady today!.
I have another apron cut out, and started to sew the straps on, but DGD was getting too close to the pins so I had to stop.
Tomorrow I hope that apart from my meeting with Molly, I will be able to sit at the sewing machine and get some things done correctly!
I need to have a selection made for a stall soon!
I am hoping to ask DGD's Mum to have DGD for an hour or two on Saturday mornings, (here with us) so that I can concentrate on the stall. But I am still not sure if I am going to do only once a month or fortnightly. Time will tell, if I can get things made.
I have several items on commission to make, but need to source the fabrics for them at the moment. I thought I had the stuff I needed but cannot lay my fingers on it as yet.!.
The batteries I bought from the £ shop, are duff, they only open the camera and then they die. So I need to get proper batteries so that I can take photos. Very frustrating. When I die I will know that I have lived, loved, mattered and made a difference, even if in a small way.0 -

I will see.
She has continued to test my patience, but is now inbed. I am hoping she will go to sleep.
DS is not coming home again tonight. Stopping at twin2's again.
So I will get some peace.
I had wanted to do some sewing, but as the sewing I did earlier was all wonky I think I will give it a miss.
The carrots, and peas from the garden were lovely.
Will do something with the courgettes tomorrow. They are huge! oops.:DWhen I die I will know that I have lived, loved, mattered and made a difference, even if in a small way.0 -
But it worried me that she is crying in her sleep! She is restless. I need to reasure her that its all OK. and I will have to tell all these people who are coming and going into our house, that they have got to stop discussing her, infront of her. QUOTE]
Delurking briefly to say..........try not to worry Mooloo about the crying in her sleep. Obv it may mean she is upset but throughout my childhood I used to have very vivid dreams which would result in me crying in my sleep. In fact I still get them sometimes now (even in my 40's ) and have been lucky to always have a very settled, happy family life
It may be that like me she is just prone to vivid dreams, rather than her life atm being the cause0 -
Just a thought Mooloo, but at two your DGD may be growing out of having a nap now. She'll still want quiet time, but maybe not the sleep. x0

I realise that she may grow out of Naps, but she kept saying she was tired and needed a rest, so I put her to bed.
Anyway she slept the night from 8pm and I woke her at 7am.
she is at nursery this morning, so I am going to see if I have the energy to sew!.
Easy things today, childrens aprons perhaps, and see where I go from there. Really need to kick myself into gear!.
Was tempted to go to town, and search the shops for fabrics that I could do with, but really cannot afford to spend on more things this week.
Keeping the things ordered in mind, I am going to have to sort out things into colours, and uses! as at the moment, I have piles of clothes/fabrics in a higgledy piggle of a way, and so cannot find what I want when i want it!! mmmm
Better go, cup of tea is finished, and its nearly 10am already. When I die I will know that I have lived, loved, mattered and made a difference, even if in a small way.0 -
here we go again, DGD is throwing the contents of her bedroom out of the door! And down the stairs. She is being very naughty. All becuase I would not read her a 5th book!
So I have come downstairs, and will leave her for a few minutes to calm down.
I dont know where these tantrums are suddenly coming from? She is quite aggressive indeed.
If she carries on there wont be anything left in the lovely room I had made for her!.
Dolls everything are coming out now.
Time to step in for a minute, check alls OK, and then leave again! When I die I will know that I have lived, loved, mattered and made a difference, even if in a small way.0 -
Hopefully she is now calm. I cannot believe how far she can throw things! The anger behind it!! She threw books out of her bedroom across the landing that went down the stairs, including her milk cup, which has now deposited the contents of warm milk all over the carpet and the cupboard at the bottom of the stairs. I have tried to mop it up, and use stardrops on it, but I need to get my Son to move the cupboard when he comes home, as its definitely seeped under there!.
This is hard as its extra visits up and down the stairs, keeping calm, and talking to her at her eye level, trying to explain that its wrong to throw things and to have a tantrum.!
But I think I have won that battle, although Ihave come out of it with a rather battered body!.
I twisted my knee getting her back into bed! My arm feels like it is being pulled out of its socket!! I hope its only going to be a temporary pull, cos if its anythingelse then I will be struggling!.
On a good note, today while she was at nursery, I managed to sew for longer then I have done in a while.
I enjoyed my day, it went very fast thought.
I made, or worked on quite a few things.
I made a chids hotwaterbottle cover, and a quilted adults one, I also made two aprons, one girls one boys, and I made a spiderman cushioncover.
I also made the pendants for some bunting, well 6 of them, and a small scented heart.
I was talking to my neighbour when DGD and I came home, as she was outside saying goodbye to my landlady (her daughterinlaw). And she came knocking on the door a few minutes later with a couple of old dresses and some old piece of suede for me to use!.
So the brain is whirling about what I can make, if I get the energy again soon!!When I die I will know that I have lived, loved, mattered and made a difference, even if in a small way.0
