Re contact with the boys, there is absolutely no reason why SS should be supervising it and as such you should be allowed to take the children out or home with you for a couple of hours.
Mama read so much about the dangers of drinking alcohol and eating chocolate that she immediately gave up reading.

DS and the rent dilemna - Get him to contact HB and find out why he hasn't been paid. Get his belongings back with a police escort if necassary. If for any reason HB will not pay the arrears then until he gets a job and earns a decent wage there is no way he can pay more than a token £1 per month, even if she takes him to court.

    Hi Mooloo
I am a long time lurker but don't usually post... but this doesn't seem right to me.

As your DS is under the legal age for debt (18), I don't think that a court would be able to enforce this money as being owed to that woman (even assuming that they wanted to, which I doubt). I stand to be corrected if someone knows better, but my understanding is that no debt can be legally enforced on someone who is under the age of 18

I would get some advice on that point before anything else. Fingers crossed!

    Hi

I have posted above about this situation, it is a common myth that people under 18 cannot run up a debt.

Lots of young people run up debt in hostels etc before they are 18 and have to pay it back.

Also if companies are willing to give under 18's credit then this is still enforceable.

Well I did saythat, and the woman said there was only the one hour supervised visit available. So when i get back later in the week I will see about an appointment with my solicitor. Just have to find upto date paperwork for my ESA to see him.
When I die I will know that I have lived, loved, mattered and made a difference, even if in a small way.

We are no denying he should give her some rent, but the way she is going about it is a bit suspect.
I think the first port of call, is to check with the housing benefits and see what they can tell us. Then from their whether she can legally keep his possesions.

I have to go now, DGD is raiding the freezer.

Let me know how you get on. Is the woman the boys social worker?

    Hi,
Yes Mooloo is staying with her B/F until at least Friday - maybe later. I think there is a birthday and their anniversary tomorrow. Hopefully giving her some much needed breathing space although she has DGD but she says its easier when there are two of you. She says its hard to get on the computer at B/F and is not ignoring everyone!! Sorry i would have updated earlier but have been really reluctant to come on MSE as got a bit of a mauling from a pretty nasty poster which really shook me up. Mooloo was really supportive though and helped me sort it. Hope everyone doing ok xx
I must not fear. Fear is the mind-killer.
Fear is the little-death that brings total obliteration.
I will face my fear. I will permit it to pass over and through me. When it has gone past I will turn the inner eye to see its path.
When the fear has gone there will be nothing. Only I will remain.
