Been having a domestic morning! (Inbetween watching GMTV, and This morning). Oops. When there was an item I wasnt interested in I went and did somethingelse.!
So downstairs is done. ITs too hot now to go and do upstairs, and its time for lunch. Then I am going to try and make a bananna cake to use up the ones that I have here going black. I am usually **** at making cakes, but I havent tried to bake here in the cottage in an electric oven either!! mmmm

Well yesterday I managed to make a banana cake. It was lovely and moist. But it didnt really rise that much. Think I used a bigger loaf tin then I should have done.
Had problems with my sewing machine so didnt finish the cushion cover I was making. Got too hot and bothered.
Had a terrible night, weird dreams, woke myself up talking in my sleep. Etc so I feel pretty jaded today.
Butcher knocked the door at 9.30. and I was still sitting in my dressing gown drinking tea.
Least I wont have to go out anywhere today, as far as I know anyway.
BF has just confirmed that I can take Granddaughter with me to Oxford for the weekend. So that saves us having to be apart while I babysit. Although during the day, he will be at the sailing club. Depends on the weather, I might take her down to see the boats. But would go in my car, just incase she doesnt like it.
We usually have the night in anyway, so thats not a problem. I can take her back to her Mum on the way back on Sunday evening.
DS is off out for the weekend so thats not a problem.
Now I better get my act together and look at my to do list. See what I can do. My arm is not brilliant so I dont think it will be sewing as yet.

Bananna cake gone! Visitors this afternoon demolished it. One mentioned they like carrot cake, so I have been looking for the recipies on here, and will have a go at making one of them. If I have all the ingredients. Not sure I have brown sugar here, but if I dont I will use white and see what happens. ! As I am yet again on my own for the night, I may as well do a bit of baking.

  • Hi Mooloo

    Banana cake sounds lovely.

How are you coping with the extreme change in your living circumstances? I mean you sounded like you constantly had a full chaotic stressful household most of the time and now you have a very calm house. Is it taking some getting used to or is it bliss?

Are the twins accepting the change in you or are they fighting against the fact you now saw 'no' much more?

Hi KM, think Banana cake will be added to the menu plan from now on. Never did make the Carrot cake as the weighing scales finally gave up the ghost and broke! I am not good at guessing when it comes to baking!.

I am finding it very strange living here in the cottage, and being on my own for such a long time. I miss going out to work and interacting with other people. I think thats why I come on here a lot! It stops me feeling quite so lonely.
I have never been on my own so much in my life. When I was younger I went to a boarding school, so I didnt even have my own bedroom until I was about 13years old! Now I am feeling as if I am rattling around here in the cottage! Even though it is tiny compared to the last two houses that we lived in.
Moving from an "executive home" into a two up, two down old building with spiders for company is different. BUT I WOULD NOT GO BACK!!
I am adjusting. I just miss adult company. (Hence TV goes on as soon as I get up,! Not very money saving. But I find the silence too much.). Chaos was the norm with the twins.
Now I see them once or twice a week, but I dont hang around or I would be trying to clean their rooms! But I do still have phonecalls and texts and they do ask me for help.
The hardest thing to adjust to is the fact that DS is now independant and I hardly see him. He is with his best mate or with twin1's BF, as they are now in a band!!! He is singing? I didnt even know he could sing, never heard him!!!

I am going on a break this week with BF, we are going to Prague for a few days, on Thursday. I really am looking foreward to it, but I know that it will be my last holiday for a long time, as I am stoney broke!
My challenges now are to reduce my expenditure by half again, as my money drops with DS leaving school.!!
Thank god for MSE and all the brilliant people on here, who can give advise, hold your hand and encourage you on the way!.:T

I have just been browsing the internet finding out the basics about Prague. The next ten days forecast is not brilliant. But as its a city break, that can be an advantage.
I have copied and printed lots of bits and pieces so that I know whats the best to do etc. BF will probably think I have gone nuts. But we are only there for a long weekend so I want to visit the best bits. Have a cruise up the river, and now that I have mostly conquored my fear of hights, I want to try a trip up one of the towers. (See if I have really managed it or not!).
Now I really am beginning to feel that I am going on holiday, as I have printed off the Boarding passess and my maps!! I have limited spending money so I want to make sure I get the best deals I can. I just hope that DS will not wreck the cottage while I am away.
Cup of tea time, and rest my arm, its not happy today.

Take a photo of the cottage before you go just in case you do not recognise it when you get back!! :D Your teenage son is bound to have loads of parties when your gone!!

Only joking! :p Enjoy your time in Prague, the cottage will be alright when you get back.
