Mooloo, please let us know how you get on with getting money out of the SW, especially now you have a date for the assessment.0

Just a quick hello, am at my parents house.
All well with everyone dispite disruptions on the journey from France home.
Have picked up twin1 and she is going to stop with me for 2 nights, and I will supervise her with DGD. She can babysit in the evenings and give me the evenings off. Mind you after 7pm there is nothing to do as DGD sleeps mostly all the way through till 6am.ish.
Meeting with Social worker on Friday morning. Will hope to have a better idea of funding then.
Meanwhile we have a lot of bits and bobs in the freezer and so the food side is fine.
I am determind to stay positive, dispite all the hassles.
Better go, as am visiting!.When I die I will know that I have lived, loved, mattered and made a difference, even if in a small way.0 -
Mooloo, thanks for the update. I've missed not hearing about what you are up to, as I am sure you are missing the support of your many friends on here. I hope that you are keeping well and managing to get some time to yourself as well as staying warm in this freezing cold weather. Moving abroard certainly looks like a very option when it is as cold as this!0

Hello, my computer is still in the shop. Twin1 brought her laptop over with her yesterday, but she couldnt get her Tmobile dongle to work. So I have dug out the BThomehub stuff, and hey presto, bit of a fiddle etc, but I am on line.
We are currently snowed in. Cannot get the car out of the garage. The landlord has managed to get his landrover only half way up the drive, to visit his parents in the house next door.
I have been stretching the mince etc, and been cooking yesterday evening once we were home. So far out of a £4 packet of minced beef, I have managed to make a Meat loaf, which will serve 4 (5) with a little bit for DGD. Then I made up a savoury mince, which was divided into 2 bowls of chilli concarne, 4 portions of Bolognese, and 2 individual cottage pie bases, and minced beef and onion, into 6 individual pies.
Because I had used up some bacon from a packet of cooking bacon (£1.13 packet), I then made 2 quiche lorraines which have just come out of the oven.
Its been ages since I cooked so much stuff.
Twin1 has been encouraged to look after her daughter.
I am only advising when I deem it necessary. I would have had a lie in, but got up to take DS to work, at 6am. However as I couldnt get the car out of the drive we were going to be going nowhere. So I went back to bed with a cup of tea and some GMTV, and let my daughter take care of DGD.
No flies on me, not really you know.
My Dad has been on the phone checking up on us, and so has Biggest of Mooloo and even twin2 has rung asking if we were OK. Dispite it being us who should have rung her as the baby is due next week. As we are snowed in, and so are they, then i hope that she doesnt go into labour at the moment.!
DS is now playing on his Xbox, but he has ventured out with DGD once, and he has been in the shed chopping more kindling for me.
My feet are freezing from standing in the kitchen on the slate tiles! dispite my slippers.
I am aiming to keep as positive as I can, with all the problems this year.
At least while we are snowed in, then I have access to the internet on Twin1's laptop!. Heehee!.
I hope everyone is well, and wrapped up warmly. Its not the best of weathers. out there.
DGD was not impressed with how cold the snow made her and is currently reading a book with her mum.
Yesterday when we were visiting my parents she counted up to 5 without any help.
She loves drawing! Scribbling on paper, and I am encouraging her to make shapes as best I can. Hoping that Mum will continue the good work when she eventually gets to be on her own with DGD after all this mess is sorted out. When I die I will know that I have lived, loved, mattered and made a difference, even if in a small way.0 -

I'm glad you've got DS home with you though, and are keeping him busy with chopping wood. Make sure he keeps well ahead of demand in case he disappears when the thaw comes. ATM it's obviously in his own interests to keep you well stocked, but keep stressing this could go on for a while! My feet are freezing from standing in the kitchen on the slate tiles! dispite my slippers.Signature removed for peace of mind0 -
Slate tiles in the kitchen of an old cottage ? hmmm that rings a bell
My solution was to put six layers of torn up heavy duty cardboard box under a piece of mat in front of both the sink and the cooker. Cardboard is a really good insulator but you do need half a dozen layers.
Good to see you back online, at least now you can order a delivery from Mr T if you need to. If I were in your shoes I'd be handing over the laptop when twin1 hands over the all the child benefit.
Keep that lad chopping - tell him it's cheaper than the gym and it will keep him warm as well......................I'm smiling because I have no idea what's going on ...:)

Connection is really slow, but its better then nothing. Not that she is thrilled that I am commandering the laptop!.
DS will keep chopping every now and then. Problem is its really hard wood and also the axe is a bit blunt now. Dont have a sharpening stone. Shut the curtains now, to try and keep the warmth in.
Wonder if we have any cardboard in the shed? Have put the small rugs from the sitting room into the kitchen. To help.
Have basically thought "s.o.d." to the electric bill, and have the wall heaters on as well as the storage heating on.
I am finding the cold is getting to the joints. So I will have to stop typing and get my heat pads in the microwave. Its too cold to have a bath, but I may go and hide in my bedroom for a little while, with the heatpads and my budget!
Take care everyone and I will probably be back on tomorrow as I cannot see me being able to take twin1 home in this weather. When I die I will know that I have lived, loved, mattered and made a difference, even if in a small way.0 -
Hi Mooloo
Is it easier for you with Twin1 there to help with DGD? If so, then why is she 'allowed' to go home? Why can't she stay with her daughter (with you supervising) until its time to go in the assessment centre? Surely that would be cheaper too and she could then give you some money. Plus surely that is better for DGD and mothers bonding etc.0
