The old style cure for a mouth ulcer is to dab bicarbonate of soda on it. My SIL used it on her mouth ulcers when she was having chemo and radiotherapy.

OH, as the salty water stung like hell, and now I feel as if I swallowed the sea!, I shall try Bicarbonate of Soda, I am sure I have some lurking in the cupboards!
Should have gone to the doctors, and had planned to, but like usual nothing went to plan here!. Dragging DGD along is also a bit of an effort. But I shall have to ring up on Monday if I am still suffering. (Hoping Bicarb will work though!)

    Hello princessleah,
Thanks for those kind words. Personnally I dont feel very incredible. Just very tired, stressed and fed up!!. But then there must be hundreds of others looking after their families in the same way. The Social Worker has "another Case" where Mum and her new partner have "resigned" themselves to having to look after thier daughter at home forever. So I am getting the vibes from SW that my daughter is not going to be able to cope on her own, dispite the coming assessment centre and thier input.
So I just battle along as best I can. Although I dont always get everything done that I plan to do. But hey we are still here.

Christmas family get together has been reduced to just 3 of us. So at least I dont have to worry about cooking for lots of people. I am sure it can be scaled down for the three of us. Less ceremony to deal with, and I wont have to drive if I dont want to.

Didnt have any bicarbonate of Soda in my cupboard, must have been in my BF's that I saw it. But have some baking powder, so I think they have some similar elements so I have tried that. It has reduced the pain a little bit. But not much.

Will brave the weather in a bit, and get out and go to the chemist. etc.
Again.!. Need nappies that I forgot to get the other day. Good job I still had half a packet left when I was planning to get more!.

    Hello all,
I went to the chemist, but he said I had to go to the doctors, and as it was a saturday, I had to wait until this evening. Doctor has put me on steroids, and a antiseptic mouth wash. I really have been suffering. I have lost half a stone!.
I am just about making myself eat the odd slice of bread (without the crusts), and have had a little instant pasta, but off the SALT, everything seems to have salt in it.
In desperation to get something inside me (cuppa soups still have salt too), I ate a cold tin of custard. It still hurt but not as much as the salt in things do!.
Its snowing here, so not sure if I will get back to Oxford tomorrow. The roads between the village and the next village 2 miles away was treacherous last night, and thats before todays snow has been added. Dont fancy that much. ITs a single track, and i slipped off of the road twice. Not nice.
Biggest of Mooloo has taken DGD for the next couple of days. She came at lunchtime, and is bringing her back on Thursday. She is taking her to see her Mum tomorrow. She hasnt actually seen her since Wednesday, as Friday we had the snow storms, and then on Saturday I wasnot too well.
Infact DS and I are both ill. He has tonsilitus. So its looking like a very quite Christmas here. Will be just DGD, her Mum,and Me. Maybe DS if he is not well enough to go to his Dads.
Most of my christmas presents have been wrapped, or i.o.u.s' written to others.
Started to move all my sewing things up into my bedroom, and get the dining room ready for DS to move his things down. Then when DGD comes back from her visit to her aunties then we can put her into his room, and that will mean I can set the alarm etc, so I can have my showers etc in peace, and her Mum can share the room with her when she is coming.
We have discussed that she hasnt seen much of her daughter and she is now starting to miss her and realise what its like without her. She is going to stay from WEdnesday until at least Monday. Then we will go from there. It will be easier if she stays, save me a lot of mileage. And I can supervise HER caring for DGD.

I have masses of Christmas goodies now, curtousy of my MR A food delivery. and some whoopsies on Friday.
But I have blown the budget sky high. January's too!! Well the grocery challenge type one anyway. I shall be pulling the horns in even more, and transferring the January money towards the higher electric bills that we are going to get!.!.
I am hoping there is enough stuff in the house now for a month, except fresh milk and vegetables. As there are less coming then expected we will be having quite a few "party" foods available when we can eat again.

  • Just noticed you've managed to reduce your water bill and now only owe 270.75. Well done on that one. Are you getting the child benefit for your grandaugther and some of the tax credits etc? x
  • Hi Mooloo
They have the toddler steps in Tesco for £3, hope that helps

    Mooloo,
I hope you are coping in the snow. I must live quite close to you so if I can help you in anyway please let me know. Good luck and have a lovely christmas.
    Hugs,

I must not fear. Fear is the mind-killer.
Fear is the little-death that brings total obliteration.
I will face my fear. I will permit it to pass over and through me. When it has gone past I will turn the inner eye to see its path.
When the fear has gone there will be nothing. Only I will remain.

At the moment Mum is still getting the benefits, and has so far given me £50 twice. The aim was to give me £50 a week, so that she can still pay the bills etc that she is committed to at the flats. I dont want her getting into any more debt. She is going to give me some of the Healthystart vouchers when they come.
This was arranged when we thought it was going to be longer then the three weeks, that was originally quoted by the SW. However I have been toying with the idea of having to ask for it to be transfered. However I do not know how long that may take, and if they stop paying her and dont start to pay me immediately, then we both loose, and we both need the money now.
