It's extremely common for people to "set as background" an image on the internet, I don't know why they do it, but they do.
Edit ~ I suspect they do it because clicking on "save image as" brings up a box to allow you to select where to save the file.... This probably confuses them. Where as "set as background" put the image somewhere they can see it.“I may not agree with you, but I will defend to the death your right to make an a** of yourself.”

Hi Everyone,
He has set the background by mistake, but that is now the least of the problem!
I have had him remove Superantispyware, but we still have a problem.
When he tries to access the internet, he gets a message,
..Windows? or Internet Explorer? has a problem and needs to shut down....
He has Avira running ok? Ithink?
I would try the remote assistance but realise he has to get onto the net to set it up?
Any ideas?
Thanks Suzanne0 -
Try a system restore to when it did work and before Superantithingymebob.
Failing that reinstall internet explorer.
Failing that download and use Mozilla Firefox instead“I may not agree with you, but I will defend to the death your right to make an a** of yourself.”

Good ideas Strider590, difficulty is explaining these things on the phone!!
Agree with Firefox comment, must get round to doing that for myself:-)
Could I get his ISP to help explain things to him??
Thanks0 -
Get him to reboot and keep pressing F8 to get into SAFE MODE WITH NETWORKING
Download FIREFOX
Use firefox for all other downloads
get him to join this site to make things easier (Or download MSN or similar to txt chat and send links)
Download HIJACK THIS (Make sure you click 'DOWNLOAD LATEST VERSION')
http://www.filehippo.com/download_hijackthis/
reboot (Needs to be run in NORMAL mode)
Click DO A SCAN AND SAVE A LOGFILE (Takes seconds) then post the log so we can see whats running
(do NOT do anything else with Hijack but scan and post the FULL log):idea:0 -
Thanks aliEnRIK,
He does get the MS e-mail, but has not joined yet.
He is 80 and trying to talk him through things is hard, may have to wait for a visit!!
Wish I could do the remote access thing!!
Will have a go and let you know how I get on.
Thanks again you have been very helpful as usual:-)

Does XP not have a remote assistance tool built in? I thought I saw it once, but now I can't remember where it is!Northern Ireland club member No 382 :j0
