Hi all,

I am assuming a few things here so bear with me:-)

I think my Dad has expanded a Picture so that he cant see how to close it!!

I have asked him to right click to find a close option, but he gets a box saying..... arrange icons..

Someone has suggested ctrl alt delete but not sure what to suggest after I am in Task manager!! ie not sure which process to tell him to end..

I hope I have explained myself ok. Wish I lived nearer home?

Many thanks
Suzanne

If he's getting a message saying 'Arrange Icons' when he right clicks the picture it sounds like he's set it as his desktop background

    Hi Fonz and diable,

He is not very experienced could he have changed his desk top by mistake?

    Will suggest the ESC key.

I downloaded Superantispyware a while ago and he is also getting a message saying there is a problem and it has to close???

I am sure if I was there I could work this out, does anyone know if I can use remote assistance to help him? and more importantly how do I use it???

    God I feel ignorant:-(

    Thanks again Suzanne

It's easy to set the desktop image by mistake. It can be done by right clicking an image in Internet Explorer and choosing Set As Background. Easy done.

Don't feel ignorant ... there's probably things you can do that we can't. Everyone has different skills.

It's easy to change the desktop wallpaper back but it differs slightly in Vista and XP. Which operating system is it ?

    Hi, Psychofly,

    His operating system is XP.

I think he may be happy to keep the pic(its a view of the mersey!)

Any ideas on the Superantispyware, even rebooting does not help!

    Thanks again, another learning curve:-)

If he does want to change the picture:

    Right Click
    Select Properties
Select the 'Desktop' tab at the top
    Picture can be changed here.

I would recommend uninstalling Superantispyware completely then rebooting. Then download the latest version of the software from their website and install it. Reboot again and see if the problem goes away. Sometimes these things just need a reinstall. Often programs like Superantispyware update themselves automatically and sometimes they go wrong doing it.

Let us know how you get on with it and good luck.

If you really want to remote access his PC rather than talk him through it then have a look at https://www.logmein.com. You'll need to talk him through setting it up but it's fairly straightforward to be honest. You can create an account for Logmein from your PC. Give your dad the web page address and the login details. Get him to click 'Add a computer' then follow the onscreen prompts to install the small bit of software. After that's done you'll be able to login to the webpage and take remote control of his PC.

That sounds great Psychofly! But I may set that up next time I visit home.

Thanks a million for all your help.

Will let you know how I get on later
