Cento Client Review

I was contacted a few weeks ago by a Welsh based company called Cento Client Review who claim they can write off my entire Northern Rock loan balance (£18,000) due to a loop-hole they have discovered which means that my original loan agreement was void. Has anyone else dealt with these people and if so, what were your experiences? I have already paid them an administration fee of £79.95 and the last contact from them via telephone a week or so ago was to say that I had a very good case and that it could be rushed through in 14 days after receipt of the consent forms (which I sent back straight after receiving them). They explained that what would happen is that once the ball starts rolling, I would have to pay their solicitor my monthly loan payment of £285 instead of it going to the loan company, for a maximum of 6 months and then after that if my claim was thrown out, that money would be paid back to Northern Rock anyway. What I'm concerned with is that after 6 months I'm going to get an irrate letter from Northern Rock asking for their missing £1710 back and Cento will have done a runner with my loan payments...

I have not heard very good things about this company and any company that wants you to get a default sounds VERY dodgy to me.DS1 12/10/04

Hi There I would be very cautious. If you do not pay your Loan back it will effect your Credit Score and that will stay on your record for a long time. This does not sound like a reputable company. I would not touch them with a barge pole and No I have not heard of them before.
Good luck with whatever you decide.:mad:0 -
thanks guys - I've just done a bit more research on Google which lead me to another credit consumer site like this on and another lady is being warned off them. It seems that consumer data was stolen from loans.co.uk in 2007 and coincidentally everyone who has been contacted by Cento, had asked for quotes etc from loans.co.uk at that time. I wondered if, when I get the next contact from them I could just say that I will continue to pay my loan payments to NR for fear of damaging my credit rating and see what their response is?
I also now feel very stupid that I've given them so much information about my oustanding balance, agreement number etc!!0 -
This doesnt sound at all right. If you make a complaint against a lender you must still make payments.
If you have any doubts about this company then you should contact the MoJ. Details of this company are on the link below with the email address to the MoJ if you do decide to contact them. http://www.claimsregulation.gov.uk/details.aspx/16588/Client_Connection_Limited/2I am an Independent Financial Adviser (IFA). Email them with the information from http://www.claimsregulation.gov.uk/details.aspx/16588/Client_Connection_Limited/2 and describe to them exactly what was said in the call.
They are a little slow but they DO act if they receive lots of complaints. They have just ticked off a number of companies for cold calling and misleading consumers. I don't know if Cento were one of those companies.

I am horrified at Cento's stance that you would have to pay the solicitor instead of Northern Rock - why would anyone do that?
Did they mention who their solicitor's were? as when I phoned them they advised it was Forbes Douglas. Now, I did some research and have found out that they are not solicitors but claims specialists, they may very well instruct solicitors at a later stage and I certainly would not be transferring any money their way.
Can you also confirm if you ever contacted loans.co.uk for a loan, as many of the peeps that have been contacted by Cento have already confirmed that they had done so. For clarity, loans.co.uk had a load of personal data stolen in 2007 by one of their employees, the MD of loans.co.uk wrote to us at that time and reported the matter to the ICO and the Police at Watford. There is a strong possibility that this may be the stolen data.

yes, I did contact loans.co.uk ;-)
I phoned Cento yesterday and told them of my concerns and that I didn't want to have to change my payments from Northern Rock to their solicitors as it would affect my credit rating. firstly, he said it wouln't affect my credit rating as interest and payments are frozen on accounts in dispute and then he said they could do it that way but my claim would take longer (the option I had been given was the 'fast track' version). He explained that the payments I made to the solicitors would in turn be their fee and they would keep that money if the claim was successful or return it if it wasn't! I asked whether I should phone Northern Rock and confirm that the claim was all above board and legit and he say "you can do, but obviously they aren't going to be happy about you claiming against them and so it might not be a good idea. Also mentioned that I had read some bad press about them and his immediate response was "on forums? It must have been a disgruntled customer that we couldn't help. You never hear anything positive on forums only the negative stuff".

I am extremely surprised that you are in a quandry. Why would you be paying some solicitor the money that was actually due to Northern Rock.
Did you ask who the Solicitors were? this information would be helpfull just to ensure that they are regulated by the law society.
As you state above this will become the solicitors fee. What do you think Northern Rock will do when you do not pay them just sit there and do nothing.
What they are proposing to do, you can do for free without getting yourself in a mess with Northern Rock. Northern Rock will for sure give you a default and you will have a bad mark on your credit file and if you wanted to borrow any money you may be prohibited or pay extra premiums for having a bad credit file. Being that this is probably a mortgage they could repossess you and that would be very quick. You should not be breaking intentionally your contract with Northern Rock IMHO. My suggestion is that you take independant advice from your own solicitor before you embark on this madness.
I can assure you that I am not a disgruntled customer, I am angry that my stolen data as it now appears now to have turned up at Cento along with yours and thousands of others and they actually told me that the FSA gave them by details, which is obviously not true.
I have not been told any truths by this lot and would not give them any more of my personal info. You only have to do some extra research for yourself and find out by googling Cento Client Review, you will find another forum which has a lot of info about this subject.
If you believe them after taking impartial advice then that is down to you and I wish you the best.milly88

Hi Just to say I have a loan going through Solicitors at the moment concerning the PPI and I have been told to keep up with the payments as normal and do not stop paying as this would effect the credit score.:mad:0 -
I think this firm really need reporting to the MoJ as the "advice" to stop paying the lender is dangerous. Only those that have been told this can complain though.I am an Independent Financial Adviser (IFA). The comments I make are just my opinion and are for discussion purposes only.
