Apart from Lifestyle Claims they are also trading as Lifestyle Money. The documents coming from one company and the payment being taken from another.
Whatever you do, do not give your credit card details unless you fully intend to take the service. So many people have had thousands taken from their credit cards and have a hell of a job in getting this back.
Also, it is worth remembering they are stabing in the dark with your PPI, credit cards and mortgage charges, they are NOT privvy to your personal information and they do not know if there is anything to recover despite telling you there is a good chance that they can make a claim.
Our recent meeting a few weeks ago (Legal Beagles) at the MOJ offices confirms that new rules will be coming out next year whereas no upfront payments can be taken until you have signed and agreed to the T&C's, we think that this is a better option and that only if you return the signed pack with all the information they can then charge your credit card.
Also, there will be a new complaints organisation for CMC's to go to similar to the FOS where compensation can be sought which will also be starting next year called LEO. More information on this will be advised in due course.Scrooge1977 wrote: »I've just had a call from Lifestyle Claims. After I told them there was no chance I'd had any PPI, (because I know I haven't) they told me they were certain they could claim money that I had paid without realising on my 2003 mortgage that I had no paperwork for.
From the start of the call I had no intention of using them, but I wanted to know what they were selling me.
The call centre salesman, Matthew Jenkins, did his best but did get quite flustered on a few occasions. Especially when I told him that I wasn't paying money upfront and wouldn't give my date of birth. He immediately got his 'manager' to try to sell me the legal pack for £359. But it was ok, because I could leave the charge on my credit card and never actually pay it and get a refund after 14 days if I wasn't happy.
I didn't need to worry, because the whole phone call was being recorded and if he said anything he shouldn't, there'd be trouble.
I was also given the M.O.J reference number, which I see is the same as that used by the scammers mentioned in previous posts.
I told him 5 times that I was not going to pay them money over the phone, but he was very persistent. I even commented on telesales and commission (which he swore no one got). Even when I compared the call to the film 'Boiler Room' they didn't give in.
I managed to waste an hour of their time before neither of us had any more conversation left and I kept them optimistic by assuring them that I'd do some research and they'd be top of my list.
I think we should all try and keep them talking for as long as possible, and you never know, they might give up....milly88

They also told me that arrangement fees charged by lenders for mortgages are not legal, but they wouldn't try to get me a refund on my most recent because it was too difficult.
Not too sure about that one...0 -
Mortgage charges you can go back 12 years but they would have to be unreasonably high charges to get a refund for instance £50 for writing a letter etc... arrangement fees I am not sure about as this is something that you would have agreed to at the time of taking the mortgage.Scrooge1977 wrote: »They also told me that arrangement fees charged by lenders for mortgages are not legal, but they wouldn't try to get me a refund on my most recent because it was too difficult.
