Well done!
I've sold 3 in the past 10 days which is a record for me. One of them was a poetry book which for me is always a very poor seller on Amazon. Another was a childrens book, and I seem to do OK with them both on ebay , Amazon and greenmet..I think some of the younger classics are read as part of the national curriculum and mums buy a copy so their own child can read alone at home.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the eBay, Auctions, Car Boot & Jumble Sales, Boost Your Income, Praise, Vents & Warnings, Overseas Holidays & Travel Planning , UK Holidays, Days Out & Entertainments boards. Just noiced on greenmet that not only can we show a selling name , and I changed mine to my Amazon selling id a while back, but we also now have feedback. Star system again, slightly different to the Amazon system and apparently to start us all off we all got 4 * out of 5, except for brand new sellers who show no stars at all.
The odd things is although i have perfect stars on Amazon and 100% on Ebay I have slipped a fraction on greenmet..so I may well take off my Amazon selling name in case it taints it.
I'm still trying to work out exactly how the stars work though.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the eBay, Auctions, Car Boot & Jumble Sales, Boost Your Income, Praise, Vents & Warnings, Overseas Holidays & Travel Planning , UK Holidays, Days Out & Entertainments boards. I wondered that as well. Have 100% feedback on Amazon but only 4 stars on Greenmetropolis. Considering most of my books there are new and unread |I would have thought mine would be 5 stars as I always post out the same day as book is bought. Did everyone get just 4 stars or is it linked to how many you have sold?0
-
Apparently maximum is 4 stars - they have now emailed out their newsletter which contains info - do you get that? I've got 3.65 stars which is not great. I once sold a book on both GM & Amazon to the same buyer on the same day so I expect that marked me down
as I only had one copy. I always try and post out within one max 2 days too.
This is the info from the GM newsletter;
'One of the biggest changes is the introduction of our new ‘Seller Ratings’. Buyers can now rate each purchase once a book has been received to reflect the accuracy of a seller’s condition rating, the promptness of dispatch and the level of packaging. This feedback is then used to produce a ‘Seller Rating’ for each seller, which is then displayed next to every book listed for sale, giving more choice to buyers when deciding which book to buy. These ratings are displayed next to the ‘Seller ID’, however we encourage all members to logon to their MyAccount homepage and set their ‘Display Name’ which will then be displayed next to their books listed for sale instead.
To start off the Seller Ratings, we've given every seller a score rating of 4 (out of 5) for every sale already made (meaning ‘satisfactory’), and then made adjustments for any cancellations, returns etc'.
Not sure if GM inform us when they get returns as it goes back to them?
Soolin, I'd already put a different seller name on GM to my Amazon one, I think its a good idea as we don't have the same access to the buyer on GM so its not so easy to give good service or put things right if there's a problem.0 -
I'm not happy about buyers rating the packaging, as greenmet recommend ordinary envelopes for paperbacks. I've often bought on greenmet and envelopes have been pretty tatty by the time I receive them. I would mark down for this, but sellers have only done what they greenmet tell them too. Not every buyer will be aware of their recommendation. Since I've bought stuff from them, I use jiffys for all books.
I was a bit hacked off to get 4 stars, as I always post same day, and only sell very good books.0 -
got several more weight watchers cookery books from mil - the last lot all sold - but i ended up buying yoga books again
not sure if i like the idea of the star system"what lies behind us & what lies before us are tiny matters compared to what lies within us" Ralph Waldo Emerson0 -
In anticipation of a downsize house move in the (hopefully) not too distant future, we have a lot of books to sell.
Has anyone used Green Metropolis and how successful has it been?
Thanks.0 -
Yes,I have used them.I put about 8/9 books on there and I have sold 3 of them.It is certainly worth a try.
I expect some books sell better than others,I sold one cookery book and the other 2 were self-help type of books.0 -
Hi TomsMom,
The best place to get help with this is on the Ebay, Auctions and Car boot board so I'll move your thread across.
