I have just signed up for Green Metropolis and have 2 questions: a) are you allowed to sell books that came as a special deal with magazines and say NOT FOR RESALE on the back

I have and discounted them by £1 and put on the description that it is a promotional copy.

Greenmet actually suggest that you could discount if you are selling a free copy, which implies that they are allowed for sale.

    Hey

Sorry if this has been asked before.

Do you think it's worth listing chick-lit books on greenmetropolis? Or is it more for "proper" books (as my mother calls them!)

I'm not looking to make much money so don't mind if it takes months to sell a book, but I have a lot of books that I'm unlikely to ever read again and would rather someone else gets the use out of them.

I do participate in a book-swap scheme in work but it only operates once a month and its one in one out so I never actually reduce the number of books I have!

Thanks in advance and a happy new year to you all x

Chick lit and common fiction sells surprisingly well on Greenmet. The only drawback is that sales do take a long time so not a 'get-rich-quick' scheme, by any means.

You could try book swapping online at www.readitswapit.co.uk but, as you've already said, this doesn't reduce the number of books you've got - you just get different ones! :o

Amazon marketplace is still the best place to sell books, IMHO, but popular fiction is often virtually worthless on there due to the sheer number of copies available.

    Thanks jo_b.

Just one more question. Is there anywhere (other than ebay) where you can sell the books that come free with magazines? They usually do not have an ISBN number and say "not for resale".

I've sold these on Greenmet, as they state that you can reduce promotional copies by £1. They aren't allowed on Amazon though.

Guapa1 I have hundreds upon hundreds of chick-lit books!

so am gonna spend a couple of evenings listing them on greenmetropolis. Did think about amazon marketplace but it looks a tad confusing and would take longer to list.

I have some serious books too so will try a mixture and see how it goes.

Oh so do I!! Louise Bagshawe, and Jane Green are like my best friends! I've just finished putting up about 50 books on green metropolis and amazon. Amazon isn't too bad actually, just a little bit more time to list.
