I sell books via Amazon,Ebay and Greenmetropolis.I have good feedback on Amazon and Ebay. However I am really fed up with Greenmetropolis as I only get 3 or 4 stars out of 5 even though I post straight away in a jiffy bag and have rated the book well .
Any one else find this. Also you have no idea why you get the bad feedback as nothing is written.0 -

I also sell on Green Metropolis and I was told when the star system started that only newbies get the 5 stars and all people selling on there for a long time didn't get the 5 stars !
Doesn't make sense to me, they did explain it to me when I queried it and the only way for me to get the 5 stars is to sell more books ! I have 4.36 stars and no bad feedback but just don't sell very often, seems like a gimmick to me to get people to list more books !0 -
I have been selling on greenmet for years and since the star system have received nothing but 5* from customers. In the intemediate period Greenmet were giving out 4* as standard and all existing sellers started with 4*, which does not explain why my stars there are less than 4.
It is impossible to get less than 4* when you have only ever received a handful of 5* plus a couple of computer generated 4* so goodness knows what greenmet have done to my account.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the eBay, Auctions, Car Boot & Jumble Sales, Boost Your Income, Praise, Vents & Warnings, Overseas Holidays & Travel Planning , UK Holidays, Days Out & Entertainments boards. Mine are less than 4 because you got marked down for any sales you refunded (due to not being able to find the book... something that has just happened to me AGAIN!)
I'm relly starting to wonder if GM are failing to remove books from my list! The last 3 have been books I don't have any more, and I housecleaned my list thoroughly a while back!My TV is broken!
Edit: refunded £515 for TV 1.5 years out of warranty - thank you Sale of Goods Act! :j0 -
Thanks Fay, I wondered about that and have actually written to complain a couple of times.
If I am double listing my records show where else I have listed. I therefore get the book from storage and if it shows it is also listed on greenmet I delete it from there. On one occasion I couldn't see the book at all I checked both via author and by title and it did not show in my listings. I just assumed I'd made a mistake except that lo and behold it sold on greenmet a few days later.
I emailed them and asked them if they had removed the book as they were the ones who had sold it on Amazon and were therefore sort of pending it (of you follow my drift) but I just got a standard reply back saying that they were aware that some people had difficulty in searching their own listings.
The second book was removed, I clicked the remove book and again it sold a few days later. No proof of course as you don't get book deleted emails from greenmet but I was very careful what I did.
Oh well, I am not a great fan of greenmet but it is useful to sell my otherwise 1p books and it keeps a bit of a turnover of stock.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the eBay, Auctions, Car Boot & Jumble Sales, Boost Your Income, Praise, Vents & Warnings, Overseas Holidays & Travel Planning , UK Holidays, Days Out & Entertainments boards. Can anyone tell me if it is better to use the 'buy it now' option to sell books on ebay rather than a straightforward auction with, say, a 99p start?
I have sold a few books on Amazon for two years or so but have found that there are so many books on for only 1p that it is barely worth the effort for anything other than a average paperback. Is Ebay the way to go?
I'm going to give Greenmetropolis a go too thanks to this site0 -
If a book is 1p on Amazon it is possibly not worth listing on Ebay either, however check completed ebay listings before you charity shop it as there are some gems that slip through. As for what is best, as from the 12th march items listed by a private seller with a 99p start will be free to list on ebay, compared to a minimum of 10p for a cheap BIN on a book, more depending on start price and post and packing.
lastly remember that ebay now cap post and apckign charges for books, so take that into account as well.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the eBay, Auctions, Car Boot & Jumble Sales, Boost Your Income, Praise, Vents & Warnings, Overseas Holidays & Travel Planning , UK Holidays, Days Out & Entertainments boards. In case anyone uses Greenmetropolis for selling proof copies they have now banned the sale of them in line with Amazon. I'm not sure if they have pulled any that are listed already, but it is worth noting as very often when someone posts to ask where they can sell proof copies we tend to suggest greenmet.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the eBay, Auctions, Car Boot & Jumble Sales, Boost Your Income, Praise, Vents & Warnings, Overseas Holidays & Travel Planning , UK Holidays, Days Out & Entertainments boards. Apparently they have pulled listings that mention 'proof copy' or 'advance proof' etc in the blurb. Best to check though I guess? They didn't email sellers AFAIK to explain what had happened or even initially make any announcement.0

I certainly never had any announcements from Greenmet about proof copies but I assumed it was because I had none listed. Thinking about it though I've never really had much correspondence from them at all.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the eBay, Auctions, Car Boot & Jumble Sales, Boost Your Income, Praise, Vents & Warnings, Overseas Holidays & Travel Planning , UK Holidays, Days Out & Entertainments boards.
