Has anyone asked Co-op about this as i am thinking this is just a name change and you are going to end up embarrased when you find out the card is really the same as the electron as i am sure i read on here the card is not accepted for pay at pump either so i cant see the point of it.....

Godiva500 the feedback on here at the moment seems to suggest that the card seems to be acting like the electron but the reason for me asking had anyone challenged Co-op on it was because maybe the cards have have not been activated properly to allow it to work like a proper visa?

I recieved the same leaflet - but you can still only use it where you used your electron ie Tesco will not allow you to buy your groceries over the internet with it!!! And I believe you will have problems with certain hotel chains and train companies - It's just a name change !!!!!!

Hmm I know.....I rang this afternoon to speak to someone after reading your post...and to be honest I really really dont think they know! someone said much along the lines what they told you...then passed to someone else who said that the information i'd been given was rubbish....so i'm no nearer!

although......strangely it did work at "pay at the pump" in asda speke....

The problem is that the numbers on the card are for an electron card and when you type them in on the internet the shop reads the numbers as an electron card! It makes no difference that the card says Debit Card ! I've spoken to the co-op and they agree that it's still going to be treated as an electron by most retailers (including Tesco's internet grocery site)-I've tried 10 times since Friday and it's a blank NO we do not accept this card.

If you check the card, the only difference is the raised card numbers - which might explain why it worked at the pumps, and I really wish it would work online as I want to do my shopping at tesco's online and it really annoys me that I can't!!!!!!!!!

So by the sounds of it, the new card won't really make any difference at all?!

I went in straight after the OR interview today and asked to open an account. No forms to fill in, the assistant just took a copy of my council tax bill and said I would receive my pack in 7-10 days. I didn't even think to ask about what type of card I would get. I'm so sorry, I was very dazed by this time.

I'll let you know as soon as I get one though :)
