Co-op Cashminder Visa Debit Card

Hmmm....another call from one of the co-op "managers" this morning after raising a complaint about how we've been conned....apparently my PIN may be blocked on this card thats why tesco/amazon refused the new card (because their systems handle the card differently) !!!!!!!! I know (strange though asda pay at pump worked?)....now I have to go to a cash point with the new card & follow the instructions for "pin services" and select unblock pin...this can be done from any cashpoint....then APPARENTLY it'll be accepted in places that refused before....believe it when I see it  seems a little strange they dont bother to tell you this when they issue the card?
I basically said if this does not work then i'll close the account.....I said straight out this "new" card is basically a rebadged electron card..they would neither deny or confirm....
One final thing that !!!!ed me off......I asked a little while ago about an account upgrade (been discharged for over 2yrs) they said "keep the account in good standing and in six or so months we'll consider"....I mentioned this again this morning & now they WILL NOT allow an account upgrade until the bankruptcy drops off credit files (6yrs).....rang natwest & they'll give me an account with proof of discharge....so if what the co-op suggested dont work then i'm off!
If anyone has the new card & can try what I suggested then try somewhere that previously refused...then post any result?

Hi phil - did I read you right? You haven't been able to use your card on Amazon ??? I've always been able to use mine on Amazon, the only place I have never been able to use it (and desperately want to)is Tesco'sInternet Grocery which seems really weird?
A quick request can anyone confirm wether new customers to the Cashminder account recieve a Debie Visa card starting with 4508 or do they get a different start number?0 -
Yep always declined on amazon for some weird reason......they tell me if you do what I suggest in the post above you can use tesco online with no problems (she apparently said she knew of a fair few who used the new cards instore and online)......might be worth a shot? I cant try as yet to see as we only shopped sunday....
she did say the cards start 4508....and something to do with the last 3 digits as well (she didnt explain very well....still not happy though so i've escalated the complaint higher than her so hopefully someone will ring me in the next few days to tell me what the hell is going on....if not i've an appt on monday to open a nat west solo account..We all die. I used mine on Amazon on Friday to get DH his Father's Day pressie. No problems at all with them accepting it
Will be intrigued to see whether this pin thing works for Mr T's though.BSCno.87The only stupid question is an unasked oneLoving life as a Kernow Hippy0 -
well its all down to some kind of "pin lock" thats on the card when issued.....once this is unlocked then it should behave like a normal visa debit card
but....believe it when I try it....We all die. The goal isn't to live forever, the goal is to create something that will0 -
I will go and reset my pin this afternoon and try doing my shopping online at Tesco's tonite - Fingers and Toes crossed, if it works everyone will hear me screaming with delight but I'm not holding my breath! Will report back later this evening!!! Thanks Phil!0

Will be intrigued to see if it works. We haven't had our new cards yet but I only had a replacement Electron a couple of months ago and DH's is up for renewal in November I think. Though it is getting rather worn so he might try for a new one before then.
Let us know if it does work Phil or anyone else if they try before hand.
ETA Cheers MM, will keep everything crossed for you and drinks are on you in the Inn tonight if it doesBet you feel like a pioneer

NO!!!!....you dont reset your pin....put your card in the cashpoint input your usual pin & then look in the menue for an option "pin services" select this & look for an option "unblock pin" select this & the following message "pin unblocked" will be showm & then its done....you still use the same pin as normal
IF it works then mines a large pint of anything! We all die. The goal isn't to live forever, the goal is to create something that will0 -
OK I hear you phil -I'm not to change my pin but unlock it! I have to admit I've seen the bit come up for changing the pin but I've not noticed the unlock bit but I will give it my best shot! One giant step for mankind and all that jazz!0
