Sorry to put a damper on everyones pleasure but we just recieved our new visa debit card from Co-op and tried to use it on-line at tesco's for grocery shopping and it isn't being accepted as a debit card!!!!! I've telephoned Tesco and they don't know what the problem is - I suspect that as it has the same card number as the electron it's being read as and electron - Anyone else tried it out (at a anti electron site?)yet?

    Cheers

  • I phoned yesterday and was told that all existing cashminder account holders will receive VISA debit cards by mid-July. She also indicated that they are becoming more flexible about bankrupts opening savings accounts with the Co-op, something that was not previously possible, although you can open an ISA for savings.

I had also previously been told that I could not open a second Cashminder account but was told that this was now possible, so I've applied...and been referred! However, I was told that this is not unusual and is just to check that nothing untoward has occurred since bankruptcty. I was going to try to hold on to the Electron card for one of the accounts, if possible, for Ryanair flights and use the VISA debit card for everything else. I already have Yorkshire Building Society and Abbey savings accounts, which have proved invaluable for budgeting and saving, so this will just be a luxury.

Well I did think it strange that the new visa debit has the same first 4 numbers, as I was under the impression this indicates the type of card it is.

My brother got his new visa debit card today.

The number down the middle of his card is exactly the same as his old visa electron card even the CV2 code is the same.
