I'm looking forward to having a 'proper' debit card soon, but I'm a bit worried about this as I've booked flights on my Visa Electron card for October and will need to present this at the airport when we fly (even though the money has come out the account already).
Hopefully this won't cause any problems if the card is replaced - will just keep the old Electron card until we've flown just in case.0 -
just take the old card along it really is so they knowits you.:cheesy: K2nga :cheesy:

yay, my debit card finally came today, it's a visa electron as I expected. I'm happy that I can move my money back into a bank and reinstate my direct debits, and get back to some kind of normality.0

Hi
Sorry that I haven't posted since we joined (although I read through the posts every day as they are really useful)
We were made BR on the 30 April and in the middle of everything else, have been relocating to Northern Ireland. We opened seperate Co-op Cashminder accounts immediately after BR so that we could still get paid and have been following this thread really closely.
We decided today to open a joint account with the Co-op. We intend to use my individual account to pay the bills, and Chris' account (in time, in the future) to use for savings. We thought this would make things easier - i.e. what is in the joint account, after paying the bills etc we know is ours.
We opened our joint account today with the Co-op and they confirmed that we will receive a 'normal' VISA card. I asked OH to 'ask casually'during the application process then to re-confirm at the end.. And we are definatley getting normal visa's within the next 7 days.
We will post when they have arrived0 -
Hello
I applied for a co-op account on the 8th of June, the cheque book came friday, and the Visa Electron came today. I was hoping for a proper Visa debit card because I want to use it for gaming/gambling sites and some don't take Electron, but it wasn't to be.
It doesn't seem they are giving out the proper debit cards yet?0 -
Cheque book? Are you sure it's not a paying in book? If they gave you a cheque book they've opened a standard current account and not a Cashminder account; in which case you'll need to run the account flawlessly for three to six months and then go into branch to see if they can upgrade you to Visa debit.
Cashminder accounts opened since this week (give/take) come with a Visa Debit by default, Current accounts come with a visa or electron subject to statusCashback Earned ¦ Nectar Points £68 ¦ Natoinwide Select £62 ¦ Aqua Reward £100 ¦ Amex Platinum £48

Ah sorry! I was going to apply for a Cash minder but it does not let you do that online so I went for the other one instead thinking it would all be the same. ;(
If I go in on Monday and explain do you think they will let me open a Cashminder even though I have just opened a different current account with them? Can I have two with the same bank?

Yeah you might be able to have both but if you are not already BR when you go BR the current account would be closed.:cheesy: K2nga :cheesy:
