o2 removing chargeable bolt ons

I didn't realise there were people who might seriously expect to make 9000 minutes of calls a month for £37.
If this is true, it isn't difficult to wonder if O2 have encountered abuse issues, as they probably did with Long Weekends and the use of certain callthrough numbers.
3000 of minutes at weekends is roughly 6 hours per day; try to break the habit.
In the real world though, 1200 or 1600 minutes, 2000 or 3000 texts, free web bolt-on, plus unlimited landlines, would be likely to be able to satisfy most people, and all for the ~£37 mentioned on Simplicity; Retentions deals would probably have 2 free bolt-ons and thus be cheaper.0 -
im due to upgrade with o2 CPW soon, want to negotiate free web bolt-on... will this impact me?0

Well I just chose that one to highlight it cause it was the first one that had a bolt on included, but if you had to be on £30 tariff than it still all stand just have to move some things up a level. But it is all inmaterial cause as you already know cant now add any of those bolt on seperately on any tariffs in consumer range by paying extra. Hence why the increase...0 -

Who said ppl would do 9000 of calling it was 6000 I did the caluation (just see I forgot about the o2 to o2 so should of done that as well and work from 9000) :-D that was under the FUP. That was the max set, and yes for most ppl they wont reach that. But as you just said yourself "in the real world through,1200 - 1600 minutes 200 / 3000 SMS (I would say that is a bit high but lets accept that) free web, unlimited landline was included in that 6000 minutes but I will forget that part and say it is within the 1200 - 1600 minutes. (the 1600 minutes / 3200 SMS is for ppl who sign up for 12 months contact if ppl are wondering.) if add the unlimited landline FUP push it up to 4200 minutes - 4600 minutes. But you are still short (about half) of what you could of done with the bolt ons add. And yes probably the reason why they are removing it but they set the FUP that high...0 -
Let me get this right.
I was intending to upgrade my Simplicity package to the 12-month deal with a web bolt-on. So now if I do O2 have the right to cancel the bolt-on whenever they want?0 -

No. Read the whole thread, particularly the first post by myself

I have but just went on the O2 website to upgrade and the bolt-ons are down as promotional offers, with the T&C stating they are allowed to withdraw at anytime.0 -
Withdraw as being available. They won't be able to take away the bolt on's for customers who have 'opted in' to them.

(hopefully the second quote thingy will work correctly. Anyway to Mastersimit, that is what the whole discussion on this topic has been in one way or other, hence one reason why it is good to go from the beginning as Hieveryone said and read everyone replies. But how things "stand" right now you can upgrade on a 12 month contract and have the web-bolt on. But if O2 say in 6 months decide like they have done with chargeable bolt ons, or non-geo number in the past to name just two quite recent ones, to remove Web-Bolt on, or increase the price. You can in theory give your notice and leave with no penatly. But that is in theory and alot of these with most companies (it is not just O2, nor is it just mobile networks it is with supplies, shops etc etc. as well.) try to make excerising your rights as difficult as possible. One reason why this whole site was setup in the first place to give the general public the knowledge and know-how to demand what they are entitled to and how to save money :-D.0 -
Ive just found out about this, a bit annoying as needed the unlimited text bolt on, but managed to get it added on this morning.
However the girlfriend didnt get it, and was told it would be removed from my account!
Can they do this?
I want to know if they are going to replace the text bolt-on as I need more than 500 text on my iphone.
Been with o2 for years and years, well since they were BT Cellnet in fact, but this will make me look elsewhere but a shame as I like using the iphone
