So far in June I've spent €40.22 on a few small food shops. That's more than I would normally have spent by now but it's all in a good cause.
    • organic milk
    • a multipack of line caught cod fillets from M&S that was reduced. Will keep me going for a while.
    • lots and lots of lovely salad stuff. It's quite dear at the rate I'm going through it but I don't mind as it's good for me
    • lots of lovely cheese (only one organic which I found in Lidl - hope it's nice)
    • and some basics like tea, yoghurts (organic) and non-organic, non-healthy sweeties! Life's too short to be perfect :D
Trying to spend less time on MSE so I can get more done ... it's not going great so far! :)
Sorry if I don't reply to posts - I'm having MAJOR trouble keeping up these days!

Hi everyone - logged on to update spends from the weekend and this morning. Not doing too badly as I know I've meal planned so will just be buying F&V, milk etc from now on.;)

Dinner Saturday night was from the Freezer, had previously made MRSMC's Corned Beef Hash (recipe on page 1) and had some left over so had made it into a Pie which we had with some Jersey Royals and peas & sweetcorn - yummy it was too, especially the Jersey Royals which I had bought locally. Pudding was a lovely punnet of Strawberries, also bought locally and they were so sweet and juicy - just waiting for mine to ripen in the Garden.;)

Dinner yesterday was Roast Beef and all the trimmings and pudding was Aldi's Super 6 Pineapple - again, really sweet and juicy - will be going back there tomorrow to restock on the Super 6 for this week.

Dinner tonight will be a Curry using the leftover Beef and bulked up with some mushrooms, peppers etc from the Freezer. Not sure about pudding yet - shall trawl the cupboards for some inspiration in a moment.:D

    Have a good day everyone.;)

PS. I forgot to mention that I bought 6 Large Free Range Eggs from Iceland and they are only £1 which I thought was great value, cheaper than the ones I normally buy in Asda and these are Large.

Hi sistercas - the recipe is handwritten in my little book which means I copied it from the Internet/a friend or on here, apologies to whoever gave it to me as I can't remember but here it is.:o

    Coconut Flapjacks

    8oz Porridge Oats
    5oz Brown Sugar
    4oz Margarine
    3tbsp Golden Syrup
    Pinch of salt
    4oz currants
    4oz Dessicated coconut

Melt marg with the sugar and syrup until dissolved, stir in all the other ingredients and put in a tray 8" x 6" and bake for 15 mins at 180 degrees. Cut into squares and allow to cool.

thanks for posting this I am off to make it right now :D

Staying focused this month - tonight me and the children had baked potatoes for tea with leftovers of baked beans, spaghetti hoops, cheddar cheese and cottage cheese! :rotfl:

At the moment, in the slow cooker, I have a bolognese cooking until about 11pm tonight. I've used 500g of beef but have bulked it out with 3 tins of tinned tomatoes, 4 onions, 4 carrots and a couple of handfuls of porridge oats and herbs. I'm hoping this will be enough for 3 or 4 meals so will keep one lot for tomorrows tea and the rest will be separated into tubs for the freezer.:D

I've had two NSD's in a row which is a miracle for me but unfortunately I'll have to buy some milk tomorrow.
