Well I gave in and went and used my Mr T £8 off £50 voucher. Spent £56
. Have lots and lots of stuff in now. probably wont need bread or butter or pasta or other stuff again til we move. Was just a bit of a shock to spend that much of the budget all at once!!

I've done tolerably well so far....spent about £5 on vegetables to supplement to canteen food at college....last night the dinner was unflavoured couscous with fragment of boiled carrot so you can see why i need to top it up a bit! *shivers*August grocery challenge: £50
Spent so far: £37.40 :A0 -

Spent 21p on some reduced ginger yesterday - Some I will use in the next few days but there was quite a lit of it. Does anyone know if I can freeze the rest to save it for later? If I can freeze it should it be chopped/grated or whole? TIA...Mortgage free as of 12/08/20!

sistercas - glad you liked the Flapjacks.;)
Updated my total with spends in Aldi and Poundland today. Got the Super 6 fruit again and also picked up a bag of Jersey Royals, they are selling 750g bags for 69p which I thought was reasonable.
Pudding last night ended up being a tin of Strawberries I found lurking at the back of the cupboard - they weren't very nice and I don't even remember buying thembut at least that's something else out of the cupboard.
Dinner tonight is a HM fish pie, used some cod fillets and some smoked fish from the Freezer so again a bit more space created, carrots and sliced green beans. Pudding will be a fruit salad using some of the Aldi fruit.;)
Have a good afternoon everyone.:D"WASTE NOT, WANT NOT!"GC for OH, myself, DD18 & DD16 includes Toiletries, cleaning stuff & Food.

Just reporting back from my £5 dash to Mr T which turned out to be a £9 dash in the end!
I got ketchup, mustard, milk, whitening toothpaste, reduced meatballs, reduced naan breads, reduced scones, reduced strawberries, garlic bread and washing up liquid.
I'm NOT going shopping until the weekend now and have enough stuff to last until then.
OH is away from Thursday - Sunday next week so the shopping should only be a smallish one as there's only 4 evening meals to cater for him for and there's tons of quorn stuff in the freezer for me. I'll use the £5 off Mr M voucher so need to get to a £30 spend - this is usually not a problem!0 -
Spent £7.04 in Mr T yesterday picking up a few things that wouldn't wait until the online order tomorrow. Otherwise the grocery side of things is going quite well. Had to fork out for a couple of "voluntary contributions" for school trips etc, and a few work-related things, though.Do you know anyone who's bereaved? Tyre performance in the wet deteriorates rapidly below about 3mm tread - change yours when they get dangerous, not just when they are nearly illegal (1.6mm).
Oh, and wear your seatbelt. My kids are only alive because they were wearing theirs when somebody else was driving in wet weather with worn tyres.0
