Hi, just doingmy update. This is my first spend for JUne, I've spent £35.28 at Mr. M's today.
Got a couple of whoospies, as you do!
Cans of coke x 5 for 19p each, a jar of marjoram for 38p and some Evian water for 15p.
I don't usually buy water, but I need new bottles as Itake squash to work.
Got a shoulder of lamb, now cooking, it'll do 2 or 3 days if I'm clever enough.
But I'm not paying 98p for a cauli, we're having brocolli instead, not my favourite, but I've bought it so I'll eat it!
The 1kg bag of Jersey mids is cheaper than the loose ones for some crazy reason.
I'll do a few with a dinner and take some to work, chopped up with onion, red pepper, and mayo in there. A nice little snack - is it better than chocolate?I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the Old style MoneySaving boards.

Hi all,
I don’t seem to be doing too well! ☹ I’ve budgeted £35 a week, and I was doing well sticking to it, explained it all to Mr Daffs etc, he’s on board. Then we just popped to Tesco to get some batteries for him earlier… and spent £13.54! Not including the batteries! All on stuff we’ll use, but we could have gone tomorrow and then it would have been in next week’s budget… ☺
Illuminating observations from this week? We’ve bought 17 – yes, SEVENTEEN pints of milk. Two of them were made into yogurt ☺ But the other 15 weren’t… Mind you, we’ve still got 3 of the 4 we bought today.
We’ve also bought 2.5kg of value porridge. Again, still got 1kg we bought today – I guess that’s where the milk is going… we’re a bit given to just munching on porridge rather than proper food…
Anyway, porridge and milk doesn’t add up to £43 a week. We’ve also bought 21 apples, 11 pears, grapes, ginger, mushrooms, veg etc, a couple of tins of chick peas, some nuts, pumpkin seeds etc, 9 loo rolls (which will last at least a couple of weeks I suppose), 240 tea bags (again, a couple of weeks at least!). So I suppose it’s not all bad. The only tins were a couple of chick peas and a couple of mackerel. And a couple of tubs of £1 hot chocolate ☺ but other than that mostly fruit, veg, milk and porridge… you’d think it’d be cheaper… ☺
I’m just a bit disappointed at not managing my first week! But I’m hoping it’ll balance out over the month at least… fingers crossed, hey? And best start thinking of something else to eat other than porridge! ☺

Well done searching_me. 5 NSDs in a week is amazing. :T
I had my second NSD of the week today. And yesterday I only bought petrol, which doesn't count in my grocery challenge.Do you know anyone who's bereaved? Tyre performance in the wet deteriorates rapidly below about 3mm tread - change yours when they get dangerous, not just when they are nearly illegal (1.6mm).
Oh, and wear your seatbelt. My kids are only alive because they were wearing theirs when somebody else was driving in wet weather with worn tyres.0 -
Hi guys,
i`ve just updayed my sig and i shall try to keep on top of this instead of leaving it until the end of the month as i know this is what keeps me on track
Not too bad really as DH did the shop this week and had a good [STRIKE]nagging[/STRIKE] many things explained to him beforehand.:rotfl:We also had a coupon from the sun last week so we saved £5 there :j
Best of all on my way to work today i managed to get a YS oakham chicken from marks for £3 :j i`ve been keeping an eye out for these for weeks and they all usually get sold at full price well before the sell by date. Today was my lucky day
Total saved this week is £7 woohoo!
Karen your cup cakes look gorgeous! I feel hungry now

ok totally ruined my month by going to Asda and spending £35:eek:. Will definately have to do better next month, on the plus side got 4 free pints of milk as my grandad had to go into hospital (he's fine though- just an infection) and it was due to go off next week, its whole milk so I've watered most of it down and used some in a rice pud, so nothing wasted, I've also bulked up on baking goods so I can make our own bread products for some time. Going to update my sig now!Debt free 11/05/11!
Savings £4000/ £3000 -
thank you lydia its coz i refuse to leave the house and me not leaving the house means me not spending
also less chance of my waters breaking in the middle of co-op :rotfl: x

Evening all
oohhhh me oh my... I have just made a pizza (not one of my fave things normally) -but heck -it was gorgeous *if I say so myself* and hubby sat jiggling his feet up and down like a kid before declaring it the "best pizza he has ever had" and "when can we have it again?":j
I always make bread dough as the base but find it to thick (and a b*gger to roll out)... today I have used the baguette recipe I posted (on the front page in the recipe list;))...I used 1/4 of the dough (other 3 lumps in the freezer) and rolled it out -doing the folding bit as normal (dead easy) and then put on my 12" holey pizza tin and topped... whacked it in the oven as per the baguettes -full power and misting the oven 3 times in the first 5 mins and then left on full power and it only took about 20mins
It came out so crispy and light -not at all stodgey and doughy -I had marked a 1/4 out for me as Im not normally keen on pizza and then put more meat on hubbies and chillies..I ate mine and could have eaten another bit -but I don't like chilli :rotfl:
I can definitely recomend it-6 -8 -3 -1.5 -2.5 -3 -1.5-3.50 -
