Have just updated my total for the month so far and it's still looking a bit too close for comfort, but then we did buy steak for yesterday's dinner:o - OH's idea. Anyway, today should be a NSD and we've got YS chicken for dinner tonight so hopefully that will stretch for a few days. Need to get organised with the BM and hopefully the only shopping for next week should be fruit, veg and milk. I might just be tempted to visit Iceland though - we have a new one just opened in the next town.

    Morning all

A quick update on my spends after nipping to the NAAFI and PLUS yesterday....
    1. 5kg potatoes
    2. broccoli
    3. cucumber
    4. 3x300g cottage cheese with chive+onion -whoopsed
    5. 2 large pork joints
    6. 1 mozzarella
    7. big tub cream cheese with herbs
    8. 2 bags frozen sweetcorn
    9. 160 tetley t-bags with 100% free
A total of €21.71 spent but the items in blue and 1 of the pork joints won't get used until next month at the earliest -but I thought I would get them whilst on offer ;)
That brings my total up to €35.73 so far... but we are into our 3rd week tomorrow and Im still well under on my annual budget too:D

One of the pork joints has been roasted in the remoska last night, so I will be using some of that later with steamed potatoes, carrots, broccoli, peas and sweetcorn...ooohhh and probably a yorkshire pud nomnomnom -the rest will get sliced and frozen in packets for use later.
I have some bread dough rising and as hubby is at a golf competition today Im going to get loaddddds more x-stitching done ;)
Hope everyone is doing well ....have a good weekend all

Karen, they look delicious and I am thinking about making some for the first time too. Do you have the recipe at all?

Had my Race for Life today. So made up some sandwiches
and bought a box of cheese twists, meringues, strawberries and walnut whips that totaled £5.51. This leaves £362.56 till the end of the month.

Well done for completing your race for life. :T

  • Hi everyone
barely had time to turn around this last few weeks.
Well I came in slightly under budget for May and I am declaring at £146. 95.
Would like to aim for same total as always for June £150.
Don't feel I can reduce it until I come under budget for at least three months.
Hope everyone else is doing well. This month I am planning to empty store cupboards and freezer of all the food that just seems to be ignored.
It takes a long time to eat an elephant and I'm doing it a bite at a time!!!

EEEK cupcakes are my latest addiction. Karenccs67 they look fantastic. I've got 4 blocks of Countrylife butter from Asda (49p each) in my fridge and a box of icing sugar in the cupboard. I could make some SERIOUS FROSTING :o Per Boomdocker up above, can you share the recipe?

Right, to money matters. I've been on to the bank and counted all my nonsense since the start of the month. I'd reduced my first Asda by £12 (for shorts and bbq trays) and reduced another by a tenner (MIL bailout) so, counting £46 yesterday in Asda and £8 in Aldi, I'm sitting for the month on £153. That's a lot for so early in the month.

I've enough in for packs for Monday and Tuesday I reckon but will definitely have to go shopping again mid week.

This week, I have succeeded in completing a £10 shop with 3p to spare! :j In saying that, I also have a small Te$c0 shop coming as I ordered online for delivery to mum's, who is coming to visit for a few days this week and will bring it with her, but it's mainly stockpile stuff we can't get here and it was less than £30 using vouchers to cover delivery costs.

Loads of baking been done to avoid the need for buying cakes & biscuits for guests plus using eggs everyday rather than buying extra meat. Made a very frugal version of kedgeree yesterday using App Foods sachet of savoury rice, a white fish fillet and a couple of eggs. Tasted fine cooked in the wok with a bit of soy sauce, salt & pepper added. :D

Still nowhere near emptying the freezer - it is now jam-packed right to the top, again!

Hope evetyone has been making thje most of the good weather and, for those with gardens & allotments, making the most of whatever is growing fastest. :)

Have just updated signture from thursday's shop. Looks llike will be overbudget yet again  Was slightly in danger of becoming very annoyed a bit disappointed in myself when I did my updating there, but then had to remind myself it's a self-imposed budget which is deliberately low to keep my spends down rather than set in stone. So feeling a bit better now :D I still think we did well this week considering it included dishwasher tablets and cleaner, and I am reminding myself I am still doing well for making sure we stay as organic with the animal produce as poss. Hope everyone else is doing well.x.
Love and compassion to all x
