18 years old. Heavy Vehicle Technician working for the Engineering and Maintenance department of Devon and Somerset Fire and Rescue Service.
Apprenticeship. So they pay my way to College, for at least 5 years, and possibly 6. Each year gains an NVQ level so hopefully will come out with a Degree in Engineering from Oxford Brookes. Best part is that the faster I complete the NVQ's the faster I get my equivalent pay rises.
Starting salary of £12787. Going up every NVQ level according to government pay scales. On 5th NVQ level the pay will have increased to at least 20,000, plus extra for being on call. Not sure what salary is once completely qualified. Inc on call probably around 28k per annum.
All transport to do with work and college paid for either by hire car and fuel payments or fuel payments in my own car.
Local government final salary pension scheme, I pay a small percent into it and the company pays the rest.
All other Fire Service perks, free Gym membership, discounts on many holidays and health services (e.g. opticians).
23 days per year Holiday, increasing with the time I stay here. After 5 years goes up to 28. I spend most of it abroad in Norway and Spain skydiving.
Sick pay is 30 days full pay 30 days half, going up every year, ending up after 5 years at 6 months full pay, 6 months half pay.
Im pretty happy with it so far.0 -

Currently no wage, as I'm not getting any hours. But normally, £6/h on a Friday/Saturday, which includes 50p/h unsocial hours pay.
Hoping to change to something that pays or get a secondary job atm though because I can't live on nothing...
