  • well folks i can now tell you that consumer advice uk(7 marketing) have now gone out of buisness as of 22/1/2010,i recieved a telephone call from the m.o.j today telling me,they also advised me that if i paid any fees on a credit card i should be able to claim them back.
People who run companies like this should be sent to prison, good luck in getting any fees back.

Many of us here have been warning of this claims company business model for some time now. Too many of them are built on income coming in from new sign ups. When they dry up, there is no money left in the company and with most claims companies having a woeful success rate (one unnamed on even admitted to a newspaper it had not had one success yet despite signing up tens of thousands of people) they cant survive. They end up in administration as all the money has been frittered away from the company.
I am an Independent Financial Adviser (IFA). The comments I make are just my opinion and are for discussion purposes only. They are not financial advice and you should not treat them as such. If you feel an area discussed may be relevant to you, then please seek advice from an Independent Financial Adviser local to you.

No. the comments made have been largely ignored and appear in brief responses. I dont think they were really taken seriously but just look at the number of claims companies that are starting to fail. Plus, its mainly the ones that make the outlandish claims of success.

I think the ones sticking to claiming back PPI have most probably made a few quid from it but the ones claiming to "wipe out your debts" and "don't just claim the PPI, claim more, commissions, interest etc etc etc" are dwindling daily and good ridance to them too from the amount of people they have scammed daily in one way or another. MOJ should do more and check directors of these companies are not opening up another. Do they do that? It seems that some open, scam money, close down (so out of MOJ's hands) and then reopen to do the same.

I found this posting on another site.

Consumer Advice UK was a trading style of 7 Marketing which has ceased trading.

I became suspicious of Consumer Advice UK towards the end of 2009 when certain things they were saying to me didn’t quite add up.
Point in case: - I was contacted on 22 November 2009 by a representative of Consumer Advice UK saying that the Supreme Court had ruled favourably for consumers regarding excessive bank fees and that if I paid £100 now they would be able to claim back on all these fees for me. This was the RED FLAG for me - I knew that the ruling wasn’t due until 26 November 2009.

This led me to do some research on this company.

Originally Consumer Advice UK was acting as a call centre for Blue Sky Financial Claims based at Preston. Blue Sky was the processing company for the PPI Claims. However, I was told that Consumer Advice UK saw an opportunity to do the processing themselves, breaking away from Blue Sky and souring relations with them. This led to the website of Consumer Advice UK being suspended by Blue Sky who owned the rights to the website.

Consumer Advice UK then worked with Chatwins Solicitors based in Swansea who would make legal representation on behalf of Consumer Advice UK clients. I recently contacted Chatwins Solicitors and I was advised that Consumer Advice UK is no longer on their panel of referrals.

I understand that many people have paid large sums of money to Consumer Advice UK in order to claim PPI back from credit lenders. I would therefore recommend that you contact Chatwins to establish whether you are on their database. If so they may be able to act directly on your behalf.
Unfortunately I was not on their database, contrary to what I had been told by Consumer Advice UK.

The owners of 7 marketing are still operating other businesses in the area. So don’t be surprised if they pop up again under a different name.
    7 Financial Services
    Meridian Bay Ltd
7 Leisure (Wales) Ltd – is currently in administration
    1 Leisure UK Ltd
    2 Leisure UK Ltd
    7 Leisure (2007) - Dormant
    8 Leisure UK Ltd

In closing I would like to remind everybody that Consumer Advice UK was registered with the Ministry of Justice, Claims Management Regulation, Registration Number CRM 11995. I would encourage you to contact the Ministry of Justice and report your experience of Consumer Advice UK to them.

I have also found an online article in the South West Wales Evening Post who ran an story as recently as 15 January 2010 on 7 Marketing and other associated businesses. It’s worth a read.

It may be worth contacting the legal firm to see if you are on their database. All may not be lost.
  • 7Marketing were the biggest scam in swansea,i know the owners S and M and they havent got a clue at all! Both also got a pub in Wind Street Swansea and can be found drinking champagne every friday afternoon, also they are now turning the old office into a chippy which will be the only chippy in wind street! Wonder what scam they gonna do there, charge for salt perhaps?! For all those who have been scammed by them i would advise you all to get in touch with the ferret, lets name and shame those people who are robbing us blind with their false promises and make those unaware aware of these malicious nand greedy scumbags....
  • I've already emailed a local journalist about it...

I'm also contacting Watchdog with my complaint. I would suggest others do the same. This is a total scam, you can't just roll up a company and expect no comeback. Before declaring bankruptcy you have to pay debtors back first and that means customers.

I seriously doubt they lost every penny.... No doubt they pulled the money out gradually and put it into other ventures then let the company bleed dry.
