WARNING - Ryanair 'online check in' farce

I think there are a number of different types of people:
- those who LOVE to rubbish Ryanair - whether they've had a bad experience or not
- those who book with Ryanair because they're the cheapest BUT still moan about them
- those who book for the first time with Ryanair, don't read the T&Cs, expect to take everything including the kitchen sink with them AND pay nothing for it, pay by other means than Visa Electron - then come on here and shout that they've been 'conned', scammed' or 'ripped-off'
- those who (like me) check out prices for a number of carriers to their destination, make sure they know EXACTLY how much the 'extras' cost, consider which flights are most convenient THEN book (for me, Ryanair has always won that one!)
Well I'm with you and fall into this last category.
I have never flown with Ryanair, as they have never worked out cheapest.
However if they did, despite how often they are slated on this board, I would still fly with them.0 -
I think Easyjet are a far superior budget airline and would much rather travel with them than Ryan anyday!
One of the reasons being this. If you want/or need to fly back on an earlier flight if there is space available they will let you do that at no extra cost. My mum has cancer and felt unwell on a trip and they got her on an earlier flight and made sure she was ok (no charge)!
I was away in Bratislava two years ago and flying with Ryan Airways, I ended up with an awful ear infection and needed to get home early to see a specialist. Ryan airways had plenty of space on the earlier plane, but charged us £400 quid to get home early and no doubt charged our old tickets to some other passenger for the same amount, making double the money out of one ticket.
EASYJET Rule as far as I am concerned!!!!Never argue with a fool, they will lower you to their level and then beat you with experience.........!!!:rotfl::T0 -

So Easyjet suits your travel habits better than Ryanair - that still doesn't mean that Ryanair are appalling.
Maybe I'm lucky but I've never ever had to change a flight that I've booked.
No need to apologise about not reading the Irish times, neither do I.
However, that link has been posted on here a few times when the subject of charging for using the toilet has been brought up so I thought you might be interested in knowing the story behind the story.
What's with all the '!!!!!!!!'0 -
I take dozens of flights around the world every year including many in Europe with Ryanair. I have never missed one yet. One Simple rule
Get to the airport AT LEAST 2 hours before your flight, then once you have got through security sit in the bar and relax.0 -

I didnt say that was ther reason I thought Ryan Air was appaulling, I just stated that I prefered them.
I do have my reasons for thinking there appaulling. I have seen the way passengers have been treated when I have been standing in the queue for making genuine mistakes. (people probably like poor Becky, who yes made a mistake, but was not treated very understandably and very rudely. Also you can never ever get through on the phone to a department if you want to speak to someone regarding a query. A few times I have tried (including the time when I was unwell). You get through and then are left queuing for ever, and on both occasions I gave up after 25 mins as the call is probably not a cheap rate call.
I am not going to sit here and argue with you. You have your opinion and surely I am entitled to mine?Never argue with a fool, they will lower you to their level and then beat you with experience.........!!!:rotfl::T0 -

You took exception to the manner of dmg24's reply to Becky.
I pointed out that O'Leary's comment about charging to use the toilets was a publicity stunt.
I asked why you considered Ryanair to be appalling - i was interested in your reasons.
I wondered what your experiences of travelling with Ryanair was - I was interested.
I think your points about why you don't like Ryanair are valid - I just haven't personally experienced what you say you have.
Arguing?
We're not arguing.
Of course I have my opinion, of course you are entitled to yours (when did I ever say you weren't?)
That's what forums are about.0 -
Are Pollycat and dmg24 connected at the hip?
Why is Pollycat bothered about someone "taking exception" to one of dmg24's insensitive comments?
These are serious questions that need to be answered....0 -

Don't talk such a load of twaddle.
Here's the answers to the serious questions that you appear to think need to be answered:
No, dmg24 & I are not joined at the hip.
No, I'm NOT bothered about someone "taking exception" to one of dmg24's insensitive comments.
I was responding to jules1964 who appeared to think I was arguing with HER when the reality was SHE said:

Maybe jules1964 is one of those people who believe that people are arguing with her when expressing an opinion that does not match her own.
As you were involved in this thread from the beginning, you may have noticed that I said that dmg24 may have been a tad blunt in her reply.
I was also sympathetic to the OP.
Of course, as your posts #5 & #6 show, you are obviously someone who seems determined to have a go at dmg24, so i'm not surprised that you're including me in that too. :rolleyes:0 -
And regarding Ryan Air, there appaulling! Any airline that is thinking of charging people £1.00 to use the loo is a disgrace. And before anybody on here starts ranting on about using the loo at the airport, I have a medical problem where I need to go to the loo quite often (waiting for an operation to sort it out) and stress makes it worse, so sitting on a plane thinking I can't go to often because of the price would make it worse!!
Then don't fly Ryanair!
It really is that simple - if Ryanair don't meet your needs (be it financial, medical or otherwise), then don't fly with them.
I am sick to death of people thinking that Ryanair and Michael o'Leary owe them free flights with unlimited baggage and free drinks. If you want such service, then pay for a full service airline. It's simple!Pollycat wrote:- those who book for the first time with Ryanair, don't read the T&Cs, expect to take everything including the kitchen sink with them AND pay nothing for it, pay by other means than Visa Electron - then come on here and shout that they've been 'conned', scammed' or 'ripped-off'
I don't agree with you very often, but in this case, you've said it far better than I ever could. I'm starting to think that there should be a guide to Ryanair on this forum - something like 'YOU HAVE NOT BEEN RIPPED OFF IF ....' ?From Poland...with love.
They are (they're) sitting on the floor.
Their books are lying on the floor.
The books are sitting just there on the floor.0 -

the way you are getting so angry over this, is actually very over the top, are you related to Michael O'Leary or have some financial interest in Ryan Air?? I have highlighted some of your comments above and think its seems well over the top for "a normal customer" to be getting so upset over people daring to say negative things about a flipping airline!!!
There really really are more important things to get upset about, starving children, poverty, war etc, not an airline!!
Oh and I have never asked or expected free drinks, just think charging for the toilet is wrong. Please dont put words in my mouth.
