WARNING - Ryanair 'online check in' farce

What I don't understand is why people continue to fly with Ryanair if they are really so rubbish?
Because Ryanair are actually dazzlingly good in many respects. They wouldn't have become one of the largest airlines in the world if they were actually terrible.
Ryanair are beyond excellent at what they do - taking passengers from A to B with the minimum of fuss. From Poland...with love.
They are (they're) sitting on the floor.
Their books are lying on the floor.
The books are sitting just there on the floor.0 -

I think there are a number of different types of people:- those who LOVE to rubbish Ryanair - whether they've had a bad experience or not
- those who book with Ryanair because they're the cheapest BUT still moan about them
- those who book for the first time with Ryanair, don't read the T&Cs, expect to take everything including the kitchen sink with them AND pay nothing for it, pay by other means than Visa Electron - then come on here and shout that they've been 'conned', scammed' or 'ripped-off'
- those who (like me) check out prices for a number of carriers to their destination, make sure they know EXACTLY how much the 'extras' cost, consider which flights are most convenient THEN book (for me, Ryanair has always won that one!)

They should have arrived earlier. The drop off desk closes 40 mins before departure, it is not a recommended time of arrival. Anyone that arrives twenty mins before the desk closes deserves little sympathy!
The op arrived an hour before hand, not fortie mins and for goodness sake, don't be so heartless. Honestly, why do some people take pleasure in saying uneccessary unhelpful things.Never argue with a fool, they will lower you to their level and then beat you with experience.........!!!:rotfl::T0 -
I agree jules1964. But sympathy isn't going to help other people here board their Ryanair flight.
I am glad that Becky posted here as a warning to others. I arrived 41 minutes before a Ryanair flight a few years back and still boarded. I shall not attempt the same stunt again!!
I also agree with Pollycat's comments about Visa Electron cards. It is simply stupid to whine about credit card charges, when in the time you spend whining you could apply for a visa electron card. Anyone can get one. No credit check.0 -

Thank you.
And yes I am pleased she posted this too as it might save someone else ending up in the same awful situation.
I agree in hindsight it probably would have been better to turn up earlier, but what makes my blood boil is certain people on this thread who seem to think they can make sarcastic and rude comments which are neither helpful or kind.
And regarding Ryan Air, there appaulling! Any airline that is thinking of charging people £1.00 to use the loo is a disgrace. And before anybody on here starts ranting on about using the loo at the airport, I have a medical problem where I need to go to the loo quite often (waiting for an operation to sort it out) and stress makes it worse, so sitting on a plane thinking I can't go to often because of the price would make it worse!!Never argue with a fool, they will lower you to their level and then beat you with experience.........!!!:rotfl::T0 -

In fairness to Ryanair, their website does say that the bag drop desks open two hours prior to scheduled departure and early check-in of baggage is highly recommended. The bag drop desks close strictly 40 minutes before the scheduled time of departure.
Regardless of which airport we fly from (sometimes we have a 190 mile drive from home), we always allow plenty of time for traffic jams etc.
We'd rather kick our heels in Departures for 2 or 3 hours rather than be panicking about missing the flight.
Unfortunately for Becky and her family, they don't fly very often and made a wrong call about how early to get to the airport.
I'm sure that with hindsight, she wished she'd asked that question on here - most people would have advised against leaving so little time for the bag drop.
I've already said that Becky's experience may help somebody else to NOT miss their flight.0 -

I think you should read this first before you 'start ranting' about Ryanair charging to use the toilet:

In what way do you consider Ryanair appalling?
What is your experience of booking & travelling with them?0 -

Your contribution to this topic was helpful, SOME other people's WERE nothing more than rude and smug.
My partner and I travel alot. We travelled last year to Poland, Turkey, Mexico, Boston and Germany. Some were budget airlines, some were not.
We always leave hours before the flight as I am a bit of a worrier and would panick that we might miss our flight and I also like to spend money at the airport! But i certainly would not come on here and act all holier than though and make unkind comments.
Rant over, but it makes me so cross!!!Never argue with a fool, they will lower you to their level and then beat you with experience.........!!!:rotfl::T0 -

You forgot those (like me) who check out the offers and find a destination I've never been to when cheap flights were 1p and have a day trip away
Took a friend for a birthday lunch to Dublin last summer, had a great day out for less than the airport car parking cost me.0 -

If that is the case fine, but funnily enough I live in London and don't read the Irish times!!!!! I saw this on more than one occasion online in news stories and the general press, so I do apologise for getting it wrong!!!!!Never argue with a fool, they will lower you to their level and then beat you with experience.........!!!:rotfl::T0
