Racist crap on these boards

  • I think the whole "racism" laws have gone too far IMO. Most people are scared to say anything now about people of a different race, because they will get labelled a racist. Even the word "Pakistani" can't be mentioned without getting jumped upon. Why do such jokes that were often made in the past (I'll admit, some jokes do take it too far) now get classed as racist? I don't have a problem with Irish jokes - it's just humour after all.

If the BNP became much more moderate in their views, I think they'd stand a very good chance of doing very well. Let's face it, we do need an effective immigration policy, as the UK is the most overcrowded country in Europe, and it's putting pressure on the resources. Although what we don't need is a party that wants to cut the heads off all non-white British people.

Instead, if a proper policy was forged that actually vetted people before they came into the country and placed strict limits on immigration, I think community relations would be much better. After all, there does seem to be a lot of bitterness about the floods of immigrants who have come in recently, while most other European countries have strict limits.

Isn't the "moderate" version of the BNP known as UKIP?

As in, not overtly racist, but subscribing to the policies you mention.

I'm reasonably comfortable with the moderating by Misskool. Better than it was previously, for sure.

Misskool isn't a moderator. She is a board guide. She is responsible for some psuedomoderating functions such as locking threads or moving them to an appropriate forum, but that's limited, and as far as abuse is concerned it isn't her job.

I think she does a good job.

I thought their main policy was "just get out of Europe - it's a waste of money." Do they want to limit immigration as well?

    From their immigration policy http://www.ukip.org/content/ukip-policies/226-immigration-ukip-policy-2009
    UKIP wrote:
A five-year moratorium on immigration (except for people with parents or grandparents born in the UK) until proper immigration controls are put in place, and the situation regarding illegal immigrants has been resolved by means of expulsion or the granting of the legal right to stay.
The party says work permits should continue to be issued to companies requiring employees to work in the UK throughout this moratorium period...

After the moratorium, the policy paper says, future immigration would then be on a strictly controlled basis using a points system.

No one should be admitted unless they are fluent in English, have the required educational qualifications, demonstrate loyalty to the UK, its laws and values, and can support themselves financially, with no recourse to public funds – and this to apply equally to their dependents.

LOL. The leftists have had a decade of using smearing 'racist' about everyone they didn't agreed with or cheap way to halt any debate. Well, people are sick of being told they're wrong and should stay silent about what they see happening to England. It's not racist to discuss the negative effects of immigration, the changes to society from those who don't want to integrate, out of kilter birth rates by Muslims and the legacy of many schools being dominated by immigrant children speaking 20 language but not English.

That sounds more like what I'm referring to! No senseless chopping off of heads or booting people so hard they literally fly out of the country!

You don't stop extremism by suppressing it, you stop it by engaging in the argument and pointing out how ridiculous the basic premises are. That's what was happening on the Debate HP board, and frankly the BNP were losing the argument.

yeah, fair enough, but why does that debate have to be had on a forum which is specifically there to discuss houseprices, recession and the economy. move it to the arms.

Sorry to see you go DD. Hope you feel you can return later.

Unfortunately I partially agree with you. Too many threads turn unpleasant.

The guides seem to consider racist threads as relevant because of tenuous links to immigration's effect on the economy, whereas anti-racist threads get moved away almost as soon as they are posted. I think the trick you are missing it to include a reference to the ecomomy in your thread titles. eg suggesting the BNP might be damaging foreign investment in the UK.

That's me, I'm done. It's bad enough when we can't move in here for anti-immigration threads and hate threads, but when you try and make a stand against it and you're set upon by the BNP supporters and even a board guide (who I feel also harbours BNP sympathies and I know dislikes BTLers), then it's time to go.

I will give you one last prediction, and it's not to do with house prices or the economy - it's about this board. Unless martin and the team take the racist overtones that pervade this board seriously, then it will continue to grow until it results in this board being deleted. With misskool as a BG you don;t stand a chance.

Cheerio, and enjoy the 'I hate foreigners' crap from the likes of dervish and ultra10, etc.

This may be a generalisation, i have not come accross you often ditheringdad nor have i read all your posts/threads but on the one or two occasions i have come accross you, you have either been the op of a thread about, what i thought, were political discussions/debates, such as the immigration policy of the current government, only to then jump on anyone who posts opinions against the current immigration policy labeling them racist or you have been posting on other threads highlighting racism.

Racism certainly seems to be a big issue for you, i am not racist, i think the BNP are laughable as a political party but i think you may just be inflaming the situation with provocative posts and threads.

I agree with you in as much as, if there is racism on these boards it should be stamped out but if it exists, (i haven't seen much of it) then why highlight it for them, just quietly report it and get it removed and don't help them promote their racist views by starting threads about it.

    just an idea.
