Racist crap on these boards

Let me make it quite plain.

If you feel a post is racist. Please report it to [EMAIL="abuse@moneysavingexpert.com"]abuse@moneysavingexpert.com[/EMAIL]. Of course that is not instant, by definition.

Do not respond to it - that escalates it. That is the only course of action that works.

As for immigration posts, that does reflect a national debate at the moment. Though it is only a small par tof any economic discussion - and if people are perpepuating such a discussion to the detriment of all others it needs looking at.

If it descends into racism then it needs pulling - yet unfortunately the border line is a tough one to adjudicate on.

Far better is to report any racist posts when they happen.

We do our best, though such a fine distinction isn't easy.

DD i understand why you are doing this but feel you should fight the !!!!!!!s because if the likes of you or me who will?...this is what they want..to snub out people who can see through there fascist views..... i agree that they have no right getting any space on these boards because they have a plan to do this to forums in the hope that they can catch a few people who dont have the intellect to see through the smoke and mirrors..good luck m8 whatever you do..

Good. I actually referred the entire thread to abuse as I can see this descending into something really unpleasant very soon. More so than it is already...

Well, people are using the recession as an excuse. "Oh, I lost my job but look at that Polish man working in the bar"...if what you're saying is correct, it sadly doesn't surprise me. They're hopin to play on peoples' emotions such as in the above way.

I think it reflects many people's moods tremendously. If censored it could add perceived validity to their feelings. I find it boring, but fairly pain free...sometimes, dare I say it, a litle funny.

re abuse: I reported something abuse t'other day, it was not actioned within 24 hours so I presumed it was considered inoffensive (unbelievably to me) so I referred it to our BG, who obviously agreed as action was then taken.

They are BBC YOUGOV and MORI polls. Are those institutions anti-immigration?! I suspect they are polling for valid concerns rather than having any dark agenda. At least some don't wish to subdue legitimate opinion on important issues.

Martin, If you can't see what is happening to your board, then I suggest you're not looking hard enough. Falling behind the 'it's hard to determine the line of what is racist' is a cop-out. If posts look like racism, smell like racism, and generally are designed to stir up hatred but carefully avoid the line between making an overtly racist statement, it is up to board management to do something about it.

The vast majority of members here - the people who are responsible for the success of this forum, I'll remind you - hate what is happening here right now.

And they can't understand why you, the mods and the board guides are seemingly condoning it, by being completely lax about policing it.

Shame.

Politican discussions are not really why I read the forum. I find threads being hijacked by BNP party members throughout the board. Frankly, I'm close to leaving that particular board. I can't tolerate the BNP, and their continuous propaganda makes my blood boil every time I read the forum.

I like the rest of the site, but frankly if the only choice is between BNP propaganda, and leave the board altogether, I'd chose to leave the board.

1. You are someone who courts controversy. Sometimes I think you use the anti racism card as a bit of a crutch after you have upset people.

2. I'm thankful the mods don't respond every time your knee jerks. There is a difference between causing gratuitous offence and debating thorny subjects. The efficiency of the thought police is one of the reasons why the UK is getting into such a mess over immigration.

3. I hope you don't leave. You are an interesting contributer who adds colour to the site.
