Postman left my parcels next door!

I feel really sorry for the poor postie in this, he/she now presumably will have to answer to a supervisor, not nice, Surely
kinder to have a quiet word and say that you do not want parcels left with neighbours. After all this person was trying to do you a favour as did your neighbour.
My postie is an absolute sweetheart if I am not in he will put them in the meteor cupboard for me, if its signed for he signs for me, all by prior arrangement. Sadly it seems you do not only know your neighbour you also dont know your postie. Please
it makes life nicer all round if we are kind to each other, life is stressful enough without our making it more soSealed pot challenge 5430 -
So what if the dustbin men come?
the reasoning is that with wheeli bins, if they are on the pavement they are due for emptying, so don't put parcel in them.
if they are on the property they are not due to be emptied so it's safe to put parcel in them.
i'n my defence i only worked for them for 3 months, and i never left anything in a bin.0 -
It would be nice if we all lived in areas where it was possible to leave parcels with neighbours but not all of us do.0

The problem occurs when you go on holiday and ask your neighbours to put the bin out for you. They don't realise there is a parcel in there for you.
I too have a fab postie who will sign for things for you and leave it in the shed. Unfortunately if he's off the other posties leave stuff on the back doorstep or in the paper bin.
I don't really have a problem with this other than worrying we WILL be away and lose the parcel if its in the bin or that it will pee with rain and soak the parcel on the doorstep.0 -

I dont know my postie, nor want the postie to sign for me and store them in some cupboard. but theres a different postie every other day, my mail isnt delivered til 3-4pm and I am working during those hours, so getting to know the postman isnt an option, particularly if their is more than one postman,
Where do you stand if for example the "signed for" package ISN'T in your cupboard, can you really prove you didnt recieve the item?:A:dance:1+1+1=1:dance::A

Sometimes its a case of knowing your neighbour that you don't want the Postie to leave your valuable items there,

This happened to my parents once. They ordered a watch from a catalogue company and the driver signed the Proof of Delivery and supposedly pushed it through the letter box. However, no watch was through the letter box and in the end they backed down after a few heated phone debates, but in my opinion sometimes, proof of deliveries aren't worth the paper they are written on. :rolleyes:0 -
I always take a parcel for a neighbour and vice versa, i know the people in my apartment block are trustworthy.
One time a curiour couldnt get into the block so i let him in and he asked if i would take the parcel and i said yup. but he didnt bother to post a card through the persons door!! so i had to write a note to let her know where it was.
A couple we are friends with moved into a milatary house and a parcel came when they were out (a widescreen tv!) so the curiour left it with the next door neighbour... who decided to steal it.
so i can understand the ops fears, not all neighbours are trustworthy. but i know mine are safe.0 -

In my case - yes he'll have to answer to a supervisor - he's leaving envelopes of mail in the middle of the side alley of the house on the ground randomly when I'm IN the house to answer the door (he isn't coming when I'm in bed or anything - we're on the end of a round so don't get our post till noonish anyway)! He's not doing his job - either post stuff through letterbox or leave it somewhere safe and post card through letterbox, people have paid for the service of sending something safely to me - and expecting that service to be fulfilled is NOT unreasonable, so yes I complained this morning because once = benefit of doubt, twice = taking the mickey. I wouldn't have known the stuff was lying there if my oh hadn't brought it in on his way in from work on one occasion, and I hadn't glanced up the side alley going out that evening on the second occasion.
What is it with this country that if you complain about a service you've paid for and not recieved that you're bashed for giving some poor guy a hard time?Little miracle born April 2012, 33 weeks gestation and a little toughie!0 -
I have two troublesome stories of neighbours taking in deliveries.
1. I took in a mountain bike from a parcel force delivery van as my neighbour was out at work. That evening when she came home, I took the parcel to her. Turns out it was a catalogue delivery that she had now decided she didn't want, and was waiting for parcel force to not be able to delivery, her not to collect from the depot and parcel force to take back to the catalogue factory.
2. My neighbours (different from story 1) took in Christmas gifts from a Studio Cards catalogue delivery. Card through my door, went to collect goods from neighbour and they denied any knowledge of the delivery. To their credit Studio Cards were very good, the sent replacement goods FOC and since they had a POD with my neighbours name they followed up what happened to the missing goods.
Since these experiences, whenever I order anything online and have the option to put additional comments on the order I always state "If I am not home to recieve delivery, do not leave goods with neighbours. I cannot be held responsible for goods on this order if these instructions are not followed." It does mean I quite often have to make a journey to the post office/xyz courier depot but I am happier doing this than having neighbour in story 2 stealing my goods again.0
