Our buyers have pulled out because her job is relocating to a different area. I can't believe it - less than a week ago they were phoning up asking for a 4th viewing to show her mum around. The only good thing is that we haven't offered on a new house so we haven't messed anyone else around.

Our buyers buyers have pulled out. I am so fed up. There was just the 3 of us in the little chain; some ftb, our buyers and us. We are staying in rented because we had to relocate miles away and arrive before the school year and also to be the end of a chain.
The EA agent called us on Sat and told us. He asked if we wanted to re-market straight away as their offer now is conditional, or to give them some time before re-marketing.
We said we would give them a little time first. I think about 3 or 4 weeks and then we are going to have to put ours back on the market. Really depressing news. Hopefully they will drop their price or have an open day or something, if not they are going to lose our place if someone else comes along. Pity because we liked them :-( Fingers crossed they can get another buyer asap.

It sucks doesn't it? I am also glad we hadn't put in any offers. :(

    Oh no, you poor souls....

fingers crossed Tinka they find someone else...

Tyllwd so so sorry, unbelivable really....

Ours is now rented out, we thought we had someone interested but they made an appointment knowing they only had a week to make a decision (unfortunately they could only do evenigns and weekends so they would have had to make the decison even more quickly due to them being unavailable) as the letting was going to final references, our Solicitors double checked with him that he could make the decision so quickly and he seemed happy to do so and then he rang back a day later and said he couldn't possibly make a decision that quickly as he had others to see.... Both us and the Solicitors were miffed to say the least.....

I'll keep my eye on this thread to see how you are alll doing but in terms of our selling i'll be signing off...thanks to those that have helped us and provided support....:D

Very bad luck indeed; had a mortgage valuation/survey been done?

I never really class anyone as a buyer until they've done that or proved funds if they are a proper "cash buyer".

Again very bad luck, and had they had a survey/valuation done?

If not I would re-market straight away, and explain that you will be happy to reconsider their offer when it is no longer conditional on their getting a buyer.

Can you really afford to wait another 4 weeks and then suffer the inertia of an EA who would probably like to wait (bird in hand and all that) and will have had other properties come to market for them to sell.

I know how you feel (unfortunately). Good luck with sorting it out.

No, they hadn't had a survey yet, so we weren't 100% confident that it wouldn't all fall apart (which is why we were planning on renting rather than trying to buy straightaway). But it is so disappointing to have it fall through for a reason we really couldn't do anything about - they had done so much research on the house, the area, the building planned nearby - on paper they were our perfect buyers.

Tinkaf1 I would agree with Harz99 and remarket straight away. If someone puts an offer in before the 4 weeks is up then thats your call - you should be able to find out how much your current buyers are trying to sell (dropping price, more advertising) and you can make a decision from there. Just because you are remarketing doesnt mean you wont sell to them, but it gives you more opportunity to try and sell if they havent found a new buyer within 4 weeks. Unless of course you are happy to wait.

The survey is already booked for Wednesday and their mortgage people just called and booked an appointment for tomorrow to do the valuation. Hubby told them that their buyers had pulled out so he thought they might want to wait and see. The man on the phone said "well we will continue unless told otherwise".

I am a bit concerned that our buyers had organised it before the chain collapsed, and they should have cancelled. I don't want them to spend a fortune on surveys etc. only for us to have to pull the plug on them if they haven't found anyone to buy theirs in a few weeks.

I hear what you are saying about marketing it straight away, but we have already told them we would give them a bit of time and I can't go back on it now, damn my morals. :-) Hopefully good karma will come back to me when we are looking for our home too.
  • Wow, busy weekend

Cleared 4 bedrooms, gace away the good stuff on freecycle and got rid of the rest

Tidied up, painted the four rooms

    Also cleared the family room

Now looking acceptable, just in time for the first two viewings today

    Fingers crossed
