Sometimes if you don't laugh you'll cry....

Well we had the ambitious property developer in August who wanted to convert the studio flat into a masionette (bascially convert the loft above) Needless to say give him two days and somebdoy msut have told him he was out of his tree! Anyway we made the decision to rent but finding a suitable time before Christmas to put our old washing machine back into the flat for renting was a bit of a nightmare. Just when we got a date sorted with help for my OH to haul the thing down there and up the stairs into the flat the snows came....So that delayed things another two weeks. Then we had to have the heater replaced for rental and when the electrician came to do it in January, the plaster board came off so we've just had that replaced and then the wall needed repainting for the 2nd time in a year...So fingers crossed the new heater is being done at the moment and it will go on the rental market next week. We did have another viewing this week, again another property developer/rentals, sounded more promising and they again had plans to convert but 2 days later we've heard nothing and they know it's going to rental next week so i think their initial fire has burned out...Just wish they'd blinking let us know it's a no, it's not difficult is it?!

So that's our saga....I see from your posts you're struggling to find somewhere to buy now-did you put leaflets through the doors?
  • Update after a long time. still on the market, the viewings seem to keep on coming which is good but no offers and no concrete feedback other than some 'it's too small' - which isn't really true as it's a massive bedroom for a 1 bed flat...

on better news two friends who sold theirs but haven't bought one have moved in and are getting some friendly rates and it pays the mortgage and lets me save up for more empty periods if they come along when they buy somewhere and move out

Just to say Tiny Tear have you got permission to let from your mortgage provider? The penalties if you don't can be pretty high, you don't want to get clobbered by them....

You also will still have to get done gas and electricity testing even if they are friends...

I hope you find some tenants soon, this whole buying-selling game just gets so tiring. Yes, I did put leaflets through the door, hope to have some positive news from it eventually.

Well after some chasing up our viewer was a no, after sounding very positive and very pleased with the space and saying that they were going to go home and do some more designs for their renovation as it were, the answer is a no it's too small.....

Why can't people learn that if you don't like it or it's too small don't say anything just smile, be polite and then walk out the door and have the decency when the Solicitor rings you up to say no instead of ignoring them and hoping they'll go away...

I really hate folks that lead you up the garden path...
  • I've got another viewing tonight! We had one on Saturday too, the man really liked the flat but typically is looking more for a 2 bed...so I doubt he'll settle for a one bed. The people who made the £125k offer upped their bid to £130k...still 5k short, and our flat is very competitively priced so it feels a bit like they're taking the mickey! Still, if they like it that much, they'll hopefully be willing to pay the extra 5k and everyone's a winner. Fingers crossed, eh?

Sorry they led you on a not-so-merry chase NEH. Let's hope future viewings are a little better.
