:oWell found out today that the buyer had not even returned the forms to her soliceter to instruct them, as shes laid back, but has done so today, honestly whats wrong with people  So things should start to move I hope.
Rest of the chain seems to be moving, hate this waiting part! :o

Hope we are all enjoying the sunshine!

What's wrong is poor manners and a lack of empathy.

What's difficult is knowing how to turn self-centred people into caring individuals when the media, including this forum, seems so biased towards rewarding and praising personal gain. It's a hard distinction for some to draw, between what's most profitable for them and what would be the decent thing to do.

Good though, that something's under way now, and that you feel the rest of the chain is OK. Fingers crossed.
  • well EA rang today to say had someone interested in viewing but who wanted chain free and what position were we in. tld her we were planning to buy but that we could prob sort something out if the offer was good but that i would need to speak to OH, but even if we did buy we wanted to move quick. shes going to ring back after shes spoken to viewer. now im in a panic we could prob move in with my mum and dad but dont know what we would do with all our stuff would prob need to pay for storage. or rent somewhere but rental prices are extortionate in our village. oh well wait and see what she says she might not even want to view anymore lol.

I can understand people wanting chain-free, but only a minority of sellers could supply that. At least you are showing willing and it might only mean a few months paying for storage, which is cheap compared with renting.

The things we have to do, eh? I'd never considered renting till last year, but it's been OK. Let's hope the potential buyer views and likes your place so much they decide to compromise on the chain aspect. You've been one of the most patient vendors on here and you're well overdue a bit of good luck.

    As with pawpurrs, fingers crossed.

Well we had our offer accepted on house B the one we were originally going to accept the offer on. I'm pleased we can get on with the process of selling & moving. Our buyer is a cash buyer and the people we are buying from already own another property so it will hopefully be a fairly quick move. Anyone want to guess how long it'll all take? I'd like to be in before the new academic year but at just over 2 months away I think it's very optimistic.

Mr "I'm not spending money on a house we are trying to sell!" has been influenced by DD ( back from uni) and a really good sale deal - to get the hall stairs and landing and the two end bedrooms carpeted in neutral paleish colour.

We have taken up the living room carpet and decided to varnish the original floorboards there.

Also painting over the deep coloured walls in the living room with a shade called natural hessian- half way through and it does make a difference.

Warned DH we are taking down half the pictures and ornaments as well- to make them features rather than clutter!!!

This house is going to be "House Doctored" within an inch of its life- I may even embellish the EA's blurb which is uninspiring as well as getting new pictures taken.

DH thinks I am crazy because if we do get a buyer I want to write a note to a few houses in the area we like, that I know were trying to sell earlier- asking if they are interested in selling.

Carpet fitters arrive tomorrow so furniture is now all over the house.

  • Another person wants to see the flat now!! 2 in a week! can't believe it!! The pollard woman has moved herself and her dogs out aswell now so peace and calm have been restored! :j
  • The house where our offer was excepted has now gone SSTC on rightmove now:D

We did have a stress yesterday tho as there ea phones me to confirm i was going to use their solicitors, when i said no i have my own they became all funny with me ! They said the vendor only wanted people who will use the ea's solicitors to keep things simple  My sol is going to charge me £220 to use a third party so i said no im using mine, to which the ea said the vendor will pull out as its a condition of the sale, and they have another interestd buyer :mad: 1hr later the phoe goes and the ea said the vendor will meet my costs half way and pay £110 if i pay the other. I agreed relucantly.

tbh tho i wouldnt of lost the house for £220 but i wanted them to sweat too ... grrr at ea's do they have a degree in making people stress !!

sorry i havet had chance to catch up with the thread and ive got to get going to my mortgage appointment so will have a read in a bit

  • How cheeky are they Charlies twins!! Surely they can't make you use a certain solicitors? If they are using them aswell isn't that a conflict of interests?

Excuse me but Charlotte I would never be bullied in to using a soliceter of the vendors choice, and why is your soliceter charging you to use some one else, all very, very strange! You want a soliceter to be acting for your best interests! This is all very odd!
