sorry lovethymini but have no ideas for you, just want to spout off myself!!!

been on the market since end of march, had 15 viewings, all like it but theres always a 'but'. feel frustrated and fed up and almost ill with it all. have seen two houses we fell in love with come and go in that time.

just dropped the price by 10K to try and provoke an offer out of someone..anyone!?

was on the market last year for four months and only had three viewings in that time so gave up ( was on for 35K more then)

how many viewings to sell is average these days? did hear someone day 11 and got all excited when we got to 12....lol:rotfl:

grrrrrr so fed up with it!

lovethymini hope things work out for you. Have no experience os chains yet as this is our first house so all new to me. Hope it all goes through. Sem to remember when we bought it toook ages purely down to disorganised solicitors. I'm a teacher and am very organised so it does my head in when others aren't especially when buying a house is so stressful:mad: Hang in there.
pink68 people are strange, dont know why some view when they must have something that a property hasnt got and cant possibly have. we had a lady yesterday who seemed so keen but the feedback today we got was that she thought the house was lovely but it didn't have a garage:confused: its a semi and you could get a smart car down the side but thats about it.
    So onto the next!
We have been on for 3 weeks and tonight we have another viewing, it will be our 4th. Ea just rang as I was frantically cleaning and we have another on thurs so lots of people interested, just hope something comes of all this obsessive cleanliness!
Good luck everyone and dont give up

lovethymini the reason it will be taking so long is these share ownership schemes take forever, and the buyer buying yours is prob reluctant to spend money out on surveys untill its more of a sure thing. Have you had the house you are buying surveyed yet? Did your EA explain when you accepted the offer on yours that the bottom of the chain where applying for a goverment scheme?
To be honest after six weeks, I would deffo be remarkerting, if the chain manages to pull themselves together before you get another buyer so be it.
pink68....Hope you dont have to wait as long or as many viewings as me, I remember getting to 12 and thinking the same!

our house has been on the market for 6 weeks now - we have had 5 viewings -no offers :-(
some have said too small, some too big blah blah blah
we have had a look on rightmove, but I agree with Dithering Dad that to go and view houses when you haven't even put yours on the market is not really fair on sellers. I spend a couple of hours doing extra cleaning from top to bottom to ensure the house is in pristine condition for the viewer - but then to find out the prospective viewers house isn't even on the market - i feel like kicking them back out of the door! lol

    Hi guys,

    :wall:

Having problems with our sale, could do with some support, and your thoughts, as we're now probably going to lose the house we're buying ...

The EA for the house we're buying says the vendor may decide to pull out and rent the house out instead if she's told it'll be a long wait.

That's the sort of daft thing EAs say. Of course it may be true, but having come so far......What are the agents doing about it? They don't work for you, I know, but they work for themselves first! An AST, by the time it's set up, would take him/her into the middle of winter which wouldn't be a great time to sell either. Are they pointing that out?

While there may be a pressing need to find money, a lot more could be lost by going down the rental route now. A few areas have shown a bit of an upturn, and there's been more activity generally, but one swallow does not a summer make.

I think I might be tempted to by-pass the EA and see what the vendor is really thinking.

Meanwhile I agree with pawpurrs; put the pressure on and re-market.

Welcome babyharry think its your first post here, unless I am mistaken........
Hope you get some real interest soon.
I am off to an old neighbour tonight, who cant sell, and am talking over the possibility of renting it, few doubts about it, but hopefully it will come good, as its just where we want to be, and it could be fab!

thanks pawpurrs. I'm starting to learn about these government schemes now, taking forever.
No, haven't had our new house surveyed yet; offer was only accepted on it last week, I have put the seller's EA fully in the picture with our chain (I don't believe in playing games)
No, only discovered our buyer's buyer was on the scheme last week. They can get a normal mortgage but only up to 5k less than they need for buyer's property. I offered to go halves on splitting the difference (we reduce by 2.5k and buyer reduces by 5k) so that they can get a normal mortgage, but our EA said this pm that it looks like they'll stick with the scheme.
EA ringing me in the morning, after talking to our buyer, with the message that surveys must take place this week or we're going back on the market.
I have been asking why we've not been surveyed since the 3rd week, but solicitor said to me that things are so slow at the moment I should wait.
I think we'll be unpacking the pictures tonight, ready for viewings again.

TBH, even though the chain was moving slowly, I thought it was a bit like sitting in a traffic jam for an hour and then going off trying to find a shortcut - surely after 6 weeks we're almost there!

Oh the joys. I should know by now it's never easy, this housemoving malarkey.

Hopefully it will come good for you. Fingers crossed eh! At least you know your not holding up the chain, in six weeks they could have been ready to exchange, and with you just having found it could have been the other way round IYSWIM, are the vendors you are buying from suited?

thanks davesnave - what's an AST???

The seller pulled out of a stalled chain before accepting our offer (well, that's what we've been told), so who knows. This is the 2nd house we've tried to buy - the first one was down valued by 5% and a new revised sale price couldn't be agreed between us and the vendor.

I know - that's the crazy thing - I was hand delivering paperwork to speed things up, I hate holding people up!

Our seller has already moved out, so ideal for us.
