Wow - the offers are coming in thick & fast now - well done !!
Our EA said today that there is loads more interest atm but of course when its a chain, the bottom ones need to come online & that although everyone that's looking to sell is also usually a buyer as well, we need people at the start of the chain to get committing. Luckily where we are has quite an international community so there are also those not in chains looking - fingers crossed.0 -
Congratulations to everyone who's made progress this week.
Almost three weeks now and not one viewing. I gave the EA a nudge on Tuesday as the floors plans and EPC we had done two weeks ago on Saturday still hadn't been added to Right Move, etc. Also said I was disappointed not to have had even one viewing, but he assured me he has investors who they just need to liaise with to arrange a convenient time. I want to believe him, I really do.0 -

Don't! Although that is what I'm starting to fear. Well, if all else fails at least I'm half way through the contract with him so I can swap to a different agent.0 -
UK new houses are the smallest in Europe apparently

From the ones we've seen i wouldn't be surprised. We've had to turn two down now as we couldn't afford to pay for storage as well as the rent on the place and there was no way i was selling half of our furniture after only 8 months of having it. :eek:0 -

Well we are 3 weeks in and only 2 viewingsm nothing in the last week at all and nothing booked. Our EA is scratching his head about it. We are on his case every few days so we don't get lost amongst all the others he has taken on recently - he won't forget us. To be fair I really do think he is trying his best. We have no tie in period but I doubt moving agents will make a jot of difference. I spoke to another agent who is a friend of mine and he said the market here has taken a downturn. We are going all out and lowering the price significantly to see if that helps - if no viewings then that equals a very poor market indeed.
Congratulations to all those with offers :beer:0 -
Interesting thread, looks like a bit of a mixed bag out there on the housing market at the moment. Any Scottish sellers out there doing well?
I'm in the process of selling in South Lanarkshire and have just recieved the draft copy of the home report. The surveyor has mentioned that the sheets on the flat roof "may be cement asbestos". I have sent it back to try to get them to remove the reference to asbestos as the roof sheets are metal profile sheet. fingers crossed they remove the comments.
Hope to get the scedule on S1 homes this week.
Hopefully get it sold before :xmastree:0 -
We're a bit fed up this weekend because the house at the end of our road, which is a similar size to us has sold and we haven't even had a viewer for weeks - it's been on the market for over a year, and is on the market at £349 when we are £315. Aaargh!
My OH's new plan is to cheer up the front garden by getting rid of the gravel and re-instating a lawn with flower beds etc. We've got pots out there, but it does look quite bare, and since this is a 1930s house it would look cosier with a lawn.0 -
tyllwyd I sympathise. A house up the road from us, same apart from a mid terrace rather than end terrace like ours, sold in the same week as ours for £18K more. That has made the difference between affording my dream house and taking the compromise house
Still at least we have sold and since that was about 10 weeks ago and the up the road people (who we know) haven't found a place yet they may well loose their buyer.
Our sale is going soooooo slooooooooowly. Our buyer has been ready for ages, and we are ready now (took our bank a long time to get the right forms to us). Top of the chain said they would vacate to sell but their seems to be some problem now. We were told end of this month for exchange but no way is that going to happen now :sigh: We are in a chain of 4. I didn't meet our buyer but DH said he seems ok, our vendors are really lovely so not too worried there but who knows about their vendors. Our vendors are buying in a different county. Plus both our buyer and our vendor have used countrywide solicitors who I have heard are useless.
We are going on holiday in September for a week. Hope it's sorted before then...0 -
Not been on much, but have been lurking
We're currently worse than before the budget. No views in the last 6 weeks despite dropping the price by £5000. Had an average of 1 view per 2 weeks before the budget.
Currently thinking of another drop by the end of the month, then maybe auction at the end of the year if we are still getting nowhere, as i don't want the property empty over winter and we need the equity to do up where we are now.0
