Hi all again. It's been a while since I've posted here but only because I've been away and nothing has been happening re the house to report.

Found out today that there's a viewer booked in for Saturday (the first one in about 5 weeks). It's an investment buyer so am thinking that even if they offer it will probably be too low for me to realistically accept. But...you never know.

Moneysavingfamily; I didn't realise you had been on the market for so long; I really feel for you (and not forgetting Pawpurrs too of course!)

First day back at work today after a lovely week's holiday in the Scillies. If I could afford it I'd move there tomorrow and if anyone on here lives there then they're v v lucky and I'm v v jealous. If they want to do a swap for a 2 bed terrace in sunny Lancs then let me know and I'll bite their hand off (I'd even chuck in the Smeg fridge/freezer for free!)

    Best wishes everyone

    xx

  • another update from me ..

The house we put an offer on last week - We put another offer in ourselves (not MA)at 162k they came back and said 165k i agreed as long as they took it off the market. The ea rang me back to say they has received a matching offer from a cash buyer how could complete in 21 days so i said good luck to them im not up-ing my offer anymore. :(

Spoke to my MA as the cash offer has apparently come from the ea's that he looks after and he hasnt seen anyone who could offer cash for that amount so thinks its a con to get me up to my max so he is going to do some digging and get back to me.

My buyers had the survey done on mine this morning. Nice man that came he didn't give alot away but did say it was a nice house for 125k (sold price) so fingers crossed. He didnt look in the loft or the intergral garage so do you think it was a basic survey ?

    Good luck everyone :)

Sounds like it was just a mortgage valuation then Charliestwins, was he there just for a very short while?
Sorry to hear you didnt get the house you were after, I am suprised that your MA is digging the dirt if he works within the EA. I guess if they are cash he wouldnt have seen them though. Got any others to look at?
Waiting to hear feedback here today, from the couple that the EA showed round yesterday, he said they seemed keen, but I havent heard anything as yet....

  • Thanks Pawpurrs,

Yeah he was in and out within 10min looked round the house then wet outside asked me a few questions - age of house, length of time on the market, initial asking price, price's of the other houses that had recently sold and what i had added to the house. then he went.

Ive got no other houses that come close to that one so we are in a pickle of what to do now. We have 3 options

    * Go into rented
    * Look further away but it would mean up rooting the kids from school
    * Keep our fingers crossed something comes up.

Complicated story about the house we lost.

Its on with "A" who i put the offers with, they said the cash offer had come from "B" ea where my MA is based . My MA phoned to give me an update yesterday about the viewings the house had had from "B" and general feedback was price to high (like we thought) so when i said their was an offer from "B" he said that was the first he had heard as he had only enquired about the house that afternoon ad at that point no-one had put an offer in. He thinks he was very suspicious that this offer suddenly appeared when i offered again.

He thinks ea "A" will phone me back and say cash buyer has pulled out but now they know what price they could push me too.

Fingers crossed Pawpurrs that you get a good offer out your viewers x

    Hi all.

    A quick update from me.
The dog has finally stopped trying to dig up the concrete slab on our patio. He only seems to do it when it rains:confused:

Anyway, a tip from me for those about to buy their first/next house. COUNT THE INTERNAL DOORS AND BUY THE HOUSE WITH THE FEWEST. Why you may ask. Well I have 13 internal doors and I have just spent two days painting them all (and I only did one side) and their frames. I ran out of the quick drying gloss so had to use non-drip (oil based, stinks). It is not non-bloody-drip and when it is on the door it runslikea!!!!!.
I used to have a Tri-colour border collie, I now have a quad colour border collie: black, white, brown and B&Q Soft Cream. I am going to have to take my McPooch to the beauty parlour.
Something else I have learned. When your saucepan boils over on a gas hob DO NOT try to mop it up with a tea towel as you would with an electric hob, the tea towel WILL catch light.
Anyway thats it from me for now. I wish you all good luck and keep the updates coming

    Hi Pawpurrs

It is starting to feel a bit more like home now. Once I get into a proper routine it will get a lot better. But god this house is huge. We moved from a 3 bed Semi into a 4 bed detached with En-suite and downstairs WC, the back garden is about two and a half times a big as the one before and we now have a front garden too, just as well I am green fingered. On that note, I have discovered that I have a hernia. I was doing some serious gardening on Thursday and my stomach started to hurt. When I touched it I felt a lump about the size of an egg. When I pressed the lump it 'popped' in and when I let go it popped out again. My upper abdomin swelled up like I was pregnant and this lasted for about 5 hours. I had surgery last August to remove my gall bladder and I think that the muscle wall has not healed properly. I am off to the doctors tomorrow and it will probably mean more surgery (I am only 36:o)
