malystryx how did you get on this morning?

Another huge round of sorting and packing this afternoon. Shed stuff, canned food, cleaning materials etc etc well I am not ever going to be a hoarder again. I am going to be minimalistic as far as I can. I expect the aches will take hold tomorrow but I can`t believe how well my 60+ year old body is coping. Having said that, the physical work is far far easier to handle than the mental stress of selling.

I agree, 8 years of things to be sorted, it's taken ages. We still have some bits left that need packing. Never again!

I've been in this house for 12 years, and until the last year, I just never threw anything away - 3/4 bedrooms, plus a garage, its been an absolute nightmare - I'm moving to 3 smaller bedrooms, and no garage. Been to the tip lots of times, charity shops, ebay and amazon sales, plus a lot of downright rubbish :D And I've got someone coming round on Monday to take a double bed, from freecycle. The stuff I've got to take still looks horrendous tho :D I'm also using up storecupboard food, there's a ridiculous amount of stuff - and as shelves become clear, I bring stuff down from one of the bedrooms, or clean out my special dried beans containers and store delicate ornaments in them. I'm really working at it :rotfl:

yes, I wish they would move. They haven`t got the umph to start their own thread and they just `piggy back` other genuine threads. Come on chaps, have a bit of grace and leave us alone. We have enough stress selling our houses and we need to support each other

Viewers seemed really positive this morning. Young FTB, their parents are providing deposit and they really loved the flat (and all the freebies we're throwing in). Apparently they put an offer in on another similar property in the area but that fell through as the place was found to be infested with woodworm and would cost them £8k to put right  (Good news for me then).

However I am not holding my breath just yet! Just have to wait and see if we get a call from the EA next week with a proposed offer :)
Have been DEBT FREE for 4 years and staying that way :T

Ouch, how does it feel to be rid of all that stuff? And do you look at it and go "yeah, so that's where the money went?"

I can understand that, getting up early and not dragging yourself around :)

Actually, the throwing away came before I decided to move - it was probably why I decided I *could* move, to a large extent. And the "oh thats where the money went" has sort of reared its head - my debt has come from owning a badly thought out investment property as my income from my main business has plummeted - but for a couple of years, I did get into the habit of buying for the sake of it (mostly science fiction magazines and some memorabilia) - I don't regret spending on events, which have given me fantastic memories, but I do kind of regret all the *stuff* I bought. However, a lot of it gave me pleasure at the time, so the regret isn't too deep....

Being without it, tho - that feels **fantastic** :j:j:j:rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:

    We are moving tomorrow:eek:

Am still waiting for something to go wrong but think maybe it is safe now.

House was mainly packed yesterday (I am at work today and was yesterday as well) and then we will set off tomorrow morning.

Internet supplier says it will all be sorted for tomorrow but I am not quite convinced:rotfl:

An offer made and withdrawn almost as quickly...

Folks who viewed about 4 weeks ago made an offer on our house over the weekend. They're the people who I feel would be the best fit in the house out of everyone who's been round so far, but I can't let that sway me.

The EA (who is also selling their house - which is Sale Agreed) told me the reason they hadn't made an offer sooner was because they thought they couldn't afford the house, but she asked them to put in an offer anyway.

Unfortunately, it was lower than the lowest we can go (which is itself well below the asking) and when informed of that figure, they said they couldn't afford it (surprise!) and withdrew the offer.

The EA spent some time trying to talk me down on price, comparing our house to some others in the area that they're selling at lower prices. (one a fixer-up, the other previously a rental property) The same tactic was employed when we got the cheeky bid from the FTB back in April. What I don't get is that the EA themselves put lower values on those houses to start with and have previously advised us against lowering our asking price (even after that FTB bid). Yet it seems every time that there's a sniff of a deal out comes the price comparison chart.

Now I'm sitting here wondering if we could take a lower offer when I already know we really can't :(

(Plus a little part of me does feel sorry for those folks as I know the house could be great for them)
