BBC news tonight. HIPs to be scrapped asap, but the Energy & CO2 bit to be retained. Ah well, that's 200 quid wasted then.0

My brother's just paid for his yesterday...I rung them this eve but I don't think they'll refund it

Its really annoying, isn't it .... I'm glad they're doing it tho. But just to have paid yesterday! Now that *is* a pain. At least I have the consolation that even though I've paid for the HIPs product, it got me on the market in time to find my very niche buyer.....2023: the year I get to buy a car0

11am Saturday, great its a viewing, not great my OH will have to do it, the viewer is looking at a bigger 4 bed property as well as ours, she hasnt sold her house yet but has been told that she can get a mortgage to buy another property without selling hers (yea right!)
i should feel very happy, but i just think whats the point. Its really annoying, isn't it .... I'm glad they're doing it tho. But just to have paid yesterday! Now that *is* a pain. It isn’t cancelled yet (not that I can find anywhere) so you currently need one.
Some people will wreck their chances for £200 to £250ish. Who wants to end up in the slow down coming September time?
The upcoming VAT increase will cost us all a lot more…0 -

our hip also got us a perfect cash buyer. I think it is good to let details out before they make their minds up. That £260 was money well spent0 -
Totally agree with the last few comments. Feeling a bit odd, though, about a conversation I've just had about the house I'm buying - my first viewing was through another EA, and then it was put with two other EAs. Now the first one has rung me up saying things like "your first viewing was with our goodselves so the purchase should be through us".... I was very, very uncomfortable, and told him so, and he actually laughed when I said "but I didn't want it when I saw it with you" (and I didn't, truly). So I said I wasn't getting involved between two estate agents, and they could sort it out between them. Anybody have any hints about what to do in this situation?2023: the year I get to buy a car0

The vendor pays the EA. It’s entirely their problem. Their EA (past or present) should not be contacting you.0

Then they wonder why they have a reputation like the old backstreet car sellers of yesteryear.:rotfl:

I was in this postition 4 years ago but as a vendor. Changed agents and a viewer who had been introduced by 1st agent decided to offer with the 2nd though she hadn't viewed through them. 1st agent found out about offer and rang to tell me they would expect payment, ended up changing back to them with 2nd EA then threatening to sue for their cut. Refused to pay them and asked solicitor to disregard the bill they sent and in the end they gave up.
However, as others have said it really isn't your problem and the EA should not even be calling you.
Good luck0
