What is the matter with people?
I posted on here last week about these buyers, let's call them buyer A, who came to view three times and spent an hour every time looking around. Anyway, they made a derisory offer which I turned down, they then improved it slightly. Meanwhile we already had an offer from buyer B. He was very keen to buy as he had lost a similar property a few months ago as he was not ready to proceed. He came to view in the first few days of marketing and made a reasonable offer. But his flat was not on the market.
I am keen to go with him as he is offering more. My EA has been chasing him up for weeks and can never get hold of him. In the end he hid and buyer B had not even commissioned a HIP yet.…In the end I had to reluctantly accept the lower offer from buyer A as the other guy just seems like a time waster. When he was told he had not got the house buyer B raised his offer and is now offering 30K above the other buyer! He really wants the place, but why had he not even started selling his flat yet. IDIOT.…I am in desperate need to complete quickly so I need to go with the lower offer where the buyers are in a good position. I would love to get the extra 30K, but I feel that buyer B will keep us messing around for months if not years…
I’m guessing the other buyers feel pretty secure being in at that level (though you’re not happy understandably) and will probably proceed to completion without too much stress for you.
I wouldn’t gamble on the lame horse…0 -
vet8, xtratime - so sorry this stuff is happening. vet8, sounds like a real nightmare, and xtratime - I was sure I was going to be stuck like that, and if this particular buyer hadn't happened along, I think I would be, my house is a real niche buy because of the state its in.
All the best.2023: the year I get to buy a car0 -
xtratime - chin up, your house WILL sell, it takes just one person, that we're all waiting for to fall in love with our houses, it will happen eventually
I was getting obsessive over the agents' figures, but after a while I stopped as it means nothing really. Even if 500 people have looked at my property details online, I'm interested in the one who will like it/make the offer/buy it, and that hasn't happened as yet. Hugs to you
Vet8, what a nightmare for you, but I agree, whilst the £30k extra is a massive difference, the offer is coming from a person who doesn't seem very reliable...just think if you accepted and were desperate to complete quickly, he'd fart about and may either pull out or re-negotiate a lower amount, which, let's face it, when you're desperate you tend to agree to stuff. At least the ones with the lower offer seem genuinely interested in your house, and it seems that they will give you less aggro than this one.
Good luck and chin up...

New here and just spent a fair bit of time catching up on posts to see what is happening to everyone else selling.
Our house has been on the market for 7 weeks now and we have had 7 viewings with 3 2nd viewings, though these mainly have been due to only 1 partner coming and then needing to come back with other half! Feedback from agents has been quite positive and one set of viewers said they would love to buy if they sold one of their 2 properties.
We were starting to think best option may be to take house off market as we are not desperate to move and could easily re-settle here when we thought we would have a look at a house which we had ignored as it was over our budget before making that decision. Turned out the vendor was the viewer interested in our house which was quite a shock.
So we now find ourselves considering whether to approach this vendor with a view to buying each others houses, not sure if it's a good idea though.
Good luck to all with offers and those awaiting them.0 -
Hi all
It's been a long time since I've posted on here (well, feels a long time!). I've been fairly quiet on here as not much has been happening - few issues with my buyers mortgage taking forever and I was beginning to doubt it would appear! Anyway, it did and we have now sold! It took 12 weeks from going on sale to completion and that was to a FTB! Having said that my EA said no chain sales are taking around 8-10 weeks, so I suppose it was that time, as the buyer offered when the property had been on the market 2 weeks.
Anyway, we now have our purchase proceeding on a house we love (or should I say I love, DH isn't sure due to the work required!). It's all going really fast on this one as our mortgage etc and valuation has been approved v quickly. Thinking we'll be completing in about 3 weeks or so which will have taken around 8 weeks! There is a chain involved but thankfully all other than us are mortgage free and two empty properties so can't see there being any hiccups. We are moving in with my parents while we get some work done as it's not habitable with 2 young children when it's being done.
How are the old timers on here doing? I feel awful not catching up on the new people but this thread is moving on so quickly. Let's hope the political situation and economic knock-on doesn't affect the housing market too much!?!0 -
Hopejack congrats on selling and buying!! :j Great to hear some positive news!
Shabbychic, welcome and all the best for your sale, sounds promising. I think your situation is pretty cool (thnking of buying house from person you may end up selling to) and although there are cons to this, it could possibly work out really well, because if you both like each others houses enough, you can usually work out a good deal between each other.
All the best,

Oh no BeeJay, how annoying!! It's like you see a glimmer of light at the end of the tunnel, then are plunged into darkness again.....well...that's how I feel anyway lol!

DH just informed me he wants to start moving boxes of stuff over the weekend as we should get the keys on Friday evening - just leaving heavy stuff for Monday and being more or less totally moved by then!!!!!!
Only trouble is that the house we are renting still has furniture all over the place!! We were told that four bedrooms and two reception rooms would be cleared for our stuff - that does not look likely to happen for tomorrow night. DH and DD have gone to get yet more boxes and I feel like crying because he just won't listen.
I now understand why moving house is a stress up there with death and divorce and if DH does not stop stressing me - I may be considering one of the other options.
DH just informed me we now get the keys at 4p.m. on Saturday for the temp rental so back to the drawing board especially as he feels we can't get much done on Sunday -grrhh!"This site is addictive!"
