DH just informed me he wants to start moving boxes of stuff over the weekend as we should get the keys on Friday evening - just leaving heavy stuff for Monday and being more or less totally moved by then!!!!!!
Only trouble is that the house we are renting still has furniture all over the place!! We were told that four bedrooms and two reception rooms would be cleared for our stuff - that does not look likely to happen for tomorrow night. DH and DD have gone to get yet more boxes and I feel like crying because he just won't listen.
I now understand why moving house is a stress up there with death and divorce and if DH does not stop stressing me - I may be considering one of the other options.
DH just informed me we now get the keys at 4p.m. on Saturday for the temp rental so back to the drawing board especially as he feels we can't get much done on Sunday -grrhh!
I can totally sympathise our move into our current rental accomodation took us a week...I got fed up of the site of tarmac never mind anything else...:rotfl:0 -
We had a viewer round last week, said the place was just what he wanted, & would call in the EAs to have a word?
It turns out, this guy has to get his VISA sorted first.:rotfl:
Where do we get them from, you couldn't make it up.

Just joking… Sorry…
We have to try and keep a sense of humour with these tyre kickers don’t we?0 -
Hi, new to this thread but feeling very disheartened.
Our 1st house a 2 bed mid terraced in Hampshire has been on the market for 9 weeks and we've had one viewing (just after the stamp duty thing was announced). The feedback, from a 30yr old FTB woman was that our place was too 'up-together' but when questioned was she looking for a dooer upper said no, just that she wanted to put her stamp on it.... aaaanyway..
So 3 weeks left of 12 week contract (I guess we have to give 2 weeks notice) and I'm wondering about coming off the market.
We are no chain as we plan to move to rented in new area and then look for a house to buy, but want to move this summer due to son starting school in September.
He has a place in the good school where we are now and we are going through the motions that he'll be going there unless something happens but it's the not knowing that is starting to do my head in...
Estate agent thinks house is priced ok (I kindof agree) and last conversation was to wait till after election... but how long do you wait??? Nothing is going to happen immediately... She said houses over 200k are moving but it's very quiet at the bottom end.. and looking at rightmove for our postcode + 1 mile, I do agree, similar properties to ours have been on for a while..
Any advice for a frazzled 1st time seller?0 -

Your experience mirrors mine - my EA was telling me not to reduce the price (I put it on at their guide price) but I did anyway from £265 to £229 and its now under offer and surveyor coming tomorrow. Depends on how much you want to move and how much you can reduce by.0 -

Just sit tight & hang on. Regarding your 2 weeks notice for your EA. We were told by ours, that the 12 weeks needs to be reached, then the 2 weeks notice starts. I soon pointed out that that was rubbish, I even had to point it out to our EA on their "terms & conditions" So our notice went in last week (10 weeks) But what's the point of changing to another EA, unless you are leaving the "merry-go-round" as the same prospective buyers look in all the EAs in their area. Also you would need to renew your HIP (more expense) if out of the market for 12mths. I've told our EA that the term expires on the 12 weeks, but they can still market our property after that date, but not on another tied contract, just another 2 week notice if we decide to change our situation.

iv just had a phone call, she said "now dont fall of your chair, but i have a viewing for you" haha
11am Saturday, great its a viewing, not great my OH will have to do it, the viewer is looking at a bigger 4 bed property as well as ours, she hasnt sold her house yet but has been told that she can get a mortgage to buy another property without selling hers (yea right!)
i should feel very happy, but i just think whats the point.
Thank you to all posters0 -

Look at it this way, what harm can it do....ok it may not lead to a sell but it's one more person through the door....
It is very disheartening all of this...
Hang in there Cazzr...There is a lot of us in the same boat...0 -
our first viewing today and EA left a text on my mobile saying that it went very well and viewer is coming back with her dh on saturday for a second viewing. Phew, at least the house has passed it`s first test
There is a similar house here but it hasn`t got our fantastic views or position or the quality fitted units that we had put in (well we were going to stay for life!!) and we decided that we were`nt going to mess around and so we put ours in for 35k less than theirs. So it is a true bargain and hence me getting geared up to not being susceptible to offers. I am hopeful but not holding my breath as these viewers are business people0 -
Thanks for the encouragement. And no I don't think we'd change agents really just not sure it's worth the uncertainty of knowing when anything will happen. Apart from our forsale board I don't feel like we are on the market!
Frustratingly someone at work came into my office the other week and said oh how stressful we are struggling to find a house we like and we sold our house after 3 DAYS on the market.... I quietly grumbled to myself.
House across the road from us; similar but not as nice as ours, not as good a position, not double glazed and 1 parking space to our 2; dropped their price from a grand less than us to 6 grand less.. Can only assume they've not had any viewings either....
I'd be happy to drop a bit (tho EA resisting), we are on at 156 but i'm not sure it'd make much difference.. Other similar houses are on at 160... We set our price to hopefully come across as better value... hmm0
