Our buyer e mailed me at lunchtime to let me know they hoped to exchange today and complete on 21st.
I phone our solicitor to see how things were getting on.
"We are just waiting for the signed contract".
"Who from?" I asked.
"Er, you!"
Pointed we had not been sent a contract- they insisted we had - etc etc.as they posted it to us on Tuesday!
Eventually they sorted out a contract and DH and I went straight there to sign it..
Then had a flurry of calls from our buyer - had to make panic stricken call to solicitor at 4.30 going "help".
Contracts now exchanged and feel shattered.
S**'s Law the original contract arrives in the post tomorrow:mad: when it is no use to man or beast!
Why Oh why don't people just "tell you" things. A thirty second phone call to say the contract was in the post - and we would have offered to call round and sign it there and then. This could have been sorted days ago with no stress, worry or aggro."This site is addictive!"

Its really annoying, isn't it .... I'm glad they're doing it tho. But just to have paid yesterday! Now that *is* a pain. At least I have the consolation that even though I've paid for the HIPs product, it got me on the market in time to find my very niche buyer.....
Sorry to say HIPs won't be disappearing anytime soon folks. To scrap HIPs there HAS to be a 100 day consultation period before this legislation can be scrapped. With the summer recess on the way this means if they do not announce it before then the HIP will be with us until at least the end of the year.0 -

I find it hard to believe that, knowing the deadlines, they would put something in the post like that without checking with you first.
Conveyancing folks must be kicking their heels at the moment surely, with so little business taking place? Can’t they spare the time to think?
I bet it comes second class post…0 -
Elona. At least its done now, you have your completion date and its all good. Stop, take a very deep breath and let the realisation of the fact you have actually done it, sink in.
yey

It has just dawned on me that after three years - we have sold the house!!!!:j :j
When the original contract finally arrives it will be interesting to see the post date and postage etc on it - just out of curiousity.
Think I might drop a thank you card and box of chocs to solicitor on Monday. We are going to need her when we find a house to buy and when we have to sell a relative's detached bungalow near Whitby which is just about to go on the market .
Neighbours are quite disconcerted that they have only had one viewing, Wanted to point out their house is not even on Rightmove yet but did not think they would appreciate it. Really hope they sell quickly and get the house they want as they are a nice family who want a home rather than a money making op.
Other neighbour coming up for sale is convinced she will be "in the money" and will sell for £100,000 more than us . Should be interesting to see what happens.
Good luck to everyone on here - the relief is incredible (please no one remind me of Welshwoof and the saga of her vendors)"This site is addictive!"

We have a completion date:j
It is on the 7th June which feels rather near  especially as I am working for 8 of the days between now and then. Including 2nd to 6th June inclusive. Have been having removals people coming round to quote and am going to get them to pack as given that DH is 160 miles away part of each week it would be possibly impossible to manage to do it ourselves.
We signed papers yesterday at the solicitor and hope all keeps going smoothly. Not sure when exchange is going to happen but I am presuming pretty soon.0 -
Woo Hooooooo
A thank you card is always nice, but only use her again if you actually thought the service was good allround.
