I am still confused I geek, why does your buyer need rented accomodation? If he is buying yours? Do you mean your vendor?

Our buyer set himself Christmas as a deadline by which to have moved somewhere - be that rented or buying. I don't know why he's done this - he has no new job/children/stamp duty to consider. I understand why people use Christmas as a landmark in the year to work towards, but he's refusing to budge in the slightest and accept a move between Christmas and New Year or in Jan. My OH and I would love to move before Christmas, too, and we've bent over backwards to get a pre-Christmas date, but we're not going to pull out just because we'll have to wait a week or two.

Our buyer wants his own place (rented or owned) by Christmas no matter what. He's been looking for two years, he got this flat for at least 10k less than other flats in the area, we accepted his first offer and didn't try to get a few thousand more out of him, it's been nearly 3 months since this process started, and he's prepared to throw all that away (plus mortgage arrangement fees etc...) to get into rented.

Judging by our most recent conversations with EAs, solicitors etc... he's not accepting our moving date of Tue 22nd either. I think that's now too close to Christmas for his liking. I'm getting as confused as you are by this whole thing...
I used to have my Avon turnover (sales) here. They've been removed because it's not appropriate to talk about those kinds of sales as if they're realistic for a new Rep to aim for. :( I signed up at the right time, right place, and was very lucky.

if we dont move by the 12th then my 3yr old will likely miss out on applying for a place at the school we will have the others at and will have to go on a waiting list etc....

Do schools still give priority to siblings of current pupils? That might work in your favour.

I agree, the waiting around is frustrating, especially when you've got a list of things you can only do once things are confirmed. Then it's a mad rush around doing ten things at once.

The schools do give a few more, for want of a better word, 'points' to siblings, but that just means he will be higher up on the waiting list as the places will have already been allocated. Gonna pack away everything I possibly can this weekend and hope for the best! If it doesnt happen then at least I will have the majority packed once hubby goes back down (he comes up here tonight for 10 days!!) so I wont have much left to do on my own (Im hoping anyway lol)

The plus of getting the packing done early is that even if you have to postpone things, the boxes can be stacked/stored out of the way. At least that's my theory :D I've yet to test it out. We can live around the boxes, but if we have to re-market I'll need to make the house presentable again. Plus I like seeing books on the shelves and the place doesn't feel like home at the moment. The packing process also means you get rid of stuff you really don't need - put aside for car boot or just chucked out - so if I have to unpack we'll have a more streamlined house. Already unpacked the Wii so I could play Mariocart. Wanted to be Wario and throw things at people.

I cant understand, if there are no problems and everyone SEEMS to be ready then whats the hold up? If there is a reason, why dont they just say?!!

Haven't been around for a while but have been reading. It's still looking like we'll get our house back mid Jan and hope to market by end Jan but it's going to be tough getting all the work done by then as I'm organising everything as well as looking after the two kids!

Better news, my Mum has finally exchanged today with completion set in stone for Monday - some may recall she has a cash buyer and she accepted their offer in early July. Due to issues they seem to be ahem, interested in, it's taken a long time to sort. On the downside, Mum has nowhere to go yet as still doesn't have a house so is moving in with us for a month until our house is ready. She'll then move in there while I try and sell! Fortunately her furniture is modern and will look fab in the house!

Kymie - can't you put down your husband's current address in order to get a school place? I'm sure if you had to explain to the Local Authority they would hopefully look favourably on it....? Forgive me if he's in a hotel or something - I'm not 100% on your story.

Let's hope 2010 follows the trend of the more positive outlooks for property so that we can all sell!

My guess is because he’s insane. For a deadline like that your real targeted deadline would be around 30th November surely? Maybe he’s just trying it on with a bit of pressure.

It sounds like he’s an amateur who doesn’t understand buying/moving house, as otherwise he’d never have set 25th December as a target.

My sympathies to all those under unreasonable pressure right now. :)

Thanks Hopejack - I will look into it - hubby is staying at his parents so it may well be worth a try!
