Hope the completion goes well and you're all set up for Christmas0 -
Thanks, I can't quite believe it. We're not actually moving. The house we sold was not our home. I owned and lived in it before I met my husband. We'll be selling our home next year as we want to move to a bigger place and thought it would be easier to sell 1 house at a time.Debt at LBM (March 2006): £30,000

New house. Bigger mortgage. MFWB after I have my buffer cash in place.0 -
Everything's up in the air now...
Good Times:
- Valuation survey came back valuing the house at what we're paying for it.
- Mortgage is otherwise fine except for...
Bad Times:
- "High damp meter readings found at various points" - OH spotted a mouldy damp patch less than 1m squared on an exterior wall in the hall, but he didn't spot these other points mentioned in the report. If they're like the patch in the hall they shouldn't have been difficult to spot. The Homebuyer's survey will go into more detail. The bank are making us get a timber and damp report with estimates for the cost of repairs before granting us the mortgage. If it's under 2k they will give us the mortgage, if it's over they will retain whatever the work is going to cost. This is going to delay things by a week or two. The damp surveyor can be out within a week, and I hope the mortgage company won't take too long to read the report and make a decision.
I shouldn't have read that letter telling us this shortly after watching Location, Location... . My OH and I are just trying to buy a small house in rural County Durham (not the wealthiest part of the country). We've had to keep knocking things off our to-do list for this house because of costs. We also had the good fortune to get married last month and get some wedding gifts - without which moving would have been impossible. OH said that he suspected buying a house twice the price and getting up to our eyeballs in debt would have been easier.
Fingers crossed that this work comes in under 2k and we can get on with this move.I used to have my Avon turnover (sales) here. They've been removed because it's not appropriate to talk about those kinds of sales as if they're realistic for a new Rep to aim for.I signed up at the right time, right place, and was very lucky.

Had a cheeky low offer today of almost 20k under the asking price!! The offer we accepted before which fell through was only 7k under which we were happy to accept. Needless to say we have been advised to reject this one, as only been on the market just over a week and another viewer tomorrow. Hopefully they will realise they need to up their offer significantly........we can compromise but not that much!!
Still no joy. The person who put in the cheeky offer was asked if they would raise it, but they want to come back for another viewing in a week's time first. It doesn't sound like they can be serious if they want to wait that long. That's 6 viewings now and no further on :-( At least we are back in the property paper this week - not sure what interest these papers generate though.0 -
don't despair kitty1 I was moving to a new area and wasnt there every day - so couldnt view again quickly... could be the sameDebt free 4th April 2007.

It's not necessarily a bad sign. They may feel that they need the time to reflect, or maybe re-view a number of properties.
We used to feel the need for a cooling-off/ thinking period sometimes. Of course we all know our own minds, but......;)0
