Excellent news hookbeak. I take it you're not going from a £150k property to a £800k mansion, so the £13k differential should come in handy!
I agree; 'expect the unexpected!'0 -
Hi everyone, just found out yesterday that the formation of our chain has come to a bit of a standstill and I can't help worrying now.
Our house was on the market for just over a year without any acceptable offers, we changed agents and within 2 weeks had a decent offer from an investment buyer so no chain, which we accepted - this was on 30th April. We arranged 9 viewings for the following weekend (9th May) and had an offer accepted on the 11th May. Our vendors went out the following weekend and also had an offer accepted on a property for them.
I was just told yesterday that this is where things come to a standstill as our vendors' vendor hasn't found anywhere they fancy yet. I don't know any more than that and am now panicking that they'll take forever and my buyers will pull out. Renting somewhere would be an absolute last resort as we have a 6 month old baby, I'm due back at work in 3 months and moving twice would be an absolute nightmare. I'd be prepared to lose the house we're buying as I know we could find something else we liked and could afford, but of course unless we also happened to find somewhere which was chain free, we could be in exactly the same situation.
Our vendors know that our buyers are keen to move quickly so I'm hoping that they will put some pressure on their vendors to get on with their search or consider moving into rented until they find something they do like.

Pleased to report that our offer has now been accepted.
Now to wade through the mortgage maze.0 -
Chains are a nighmare Sally, really do no lose your buyers, as you say either find a chain free propery or get someone to end the chain.Pawpurrs x0

Thanks Pawpurrs, I know I'm a bit premature in panicking and the people currently at the top of the chain might not be as laissez-faire as I'm imagining them to be but with the holiday season etc...
Congrats jstallen and good luck with the mortgage!0 -

Congratulations on being an Auntie CT.
Hope you get a quick sale Little Miss.
Good luck with your viewing PP and everyone else that is going to be busy with viewings over the weekend.
I've put an offer in on a house and haven't heard back yet. Fingers crossed for tomorrow. I'm hoping I hear tomorrow because I'm off to Spain early Monday and although DP will be at home he isn't great at managing this sort of thing. It's usually down to me.0
