Thanks - I'll miss it, I'd hoped to sell it to my brother to keep it in the family, but that doesn't look like a goer.

Now, if only I could convince someone else to buy it...

Your flat looks super - I can understand why you'd want to try and keep it in the family. :D Really nice to have a bit of outdoor space too. Good luck with finding a purchaser.

We went to view a house we're interested in yesterday, our third viewing. We had an hours view as OH was measuring up in detail so we can begin to get an idea of how we'd alter it, and whether to extend a bit etc. It's a sale from an estate, so agent had to accompany us (the son who is selling is in London).

When I'd been round the house again and taken some photos I went and sat out on a bench on the patio, and the agent came and chatted some with me (his cousin used to live 4 houses down when he was a lad, so he knew the old gentleman who lived in the house) while OH finished up measuring. He told me that there are loads of frogs in the gardens. A definite selling point to me! :j And squirrels - not so keen on them even if they do look kind of cute and fluffy - at least there aren't rabbits!

Anyway, he said that they've been mad busy just recently, that lots more properties are coming onto the market. Whether they are selling is another matter of course, but he seemed optimistic the market is picking up. So here's hoping for everyone here that he's right!

Good luck to you all, hope you sell soon.

Welll, we completed yesterday! Wayhay!!!! The move took about 12 hours, (with a 2 hour break in the middle!) the removal men worked really hard, but had to reload quite a bit cos it wouldn't go in the lorry! We have a lot of stuff!

So I am sitting amoungst boxes eatin my shreddies while typing this into my mobie phone! Hubby has taken the girls swimming so at least I have some peace.

Tootsmyboots - don't turn them away, our buyer was unpreecedable when they first came round, luckily they got a buyer quite quicly and here we are 11 weeks after them offering, in our new home!

    Good luck all!

    Jenny :-)
I love giving home made gifts, which one of my children would you like? :D :A :D

I would suggest to all of you wantng proceedable viewers not to turn down those who don't look proceedable, however impossible it feels. We looked at the house we've just bought before we'd put ours on the market. We wanted to see what type of houses were in the area and what we could expect for our money. We fell in love with the house immediately. We were honest with the vendors about our position and didn't expect them to wait for us. We put our house on the market 3 weeks later, had a buyer in 3 weeks and our offer was accepted the same day. After much stress with our buyer's solicitors, we finally moved in a couple of months ago.

jenny74. Congratulations! It's an amazing feeling isn't it? Enjoy the unpacking and making the house a home.

Wishing all the best to those still in the dreadfully stressful process.

How long has it been on for?

    Since the start of September.

I'm a bit disappointed because the flat is in a "ready-to-move-into" state so there would be very little decoration other than small personalisations but the interest has been pretty poor.

Apparently it's the area I live in, but it's undergoing massive regeneration and it's a far nicer place to live in that it was 10-15 years ago (from locals who have been there that long).

Nice place jeggburt - house prices fallen in the N-E? Your place seems really good value for money

They have fallen in quite a few areas and my area is no different but the prices haven't fallen much (they aren't really noticeable).

There's a repossession flat on for £5k more than mine but that requires some work to be done (new bathroom, new boiler at least).

I can't force people through the door, but I don't think I can raise any potential family where I am just now :D

lovely place jeggburt. really surprised they've not been bashing on your door to buy it.
Mortgage free as of 10/02/2015. Every brick and blade of grass belongs to meeeee. :j
  • Suspect it's a lack of buyers that would be your problem jeggburt, because from the looks of it there's absolutely nothing wrong with your flat! £50k seems an absolute bargain for a place like that, though I know nothing about the North East.

The more I think about it, it's just a question of riding out the storm so long as your place is reasonably priced.

Things should be ok to sell for another few weeks, but if that doesn't work out don't be too dis-heartened to wait until the new year.

Aye, it's one of those things I feel :)

The OH is desperate for a place she can call home even though she's helped turned my bachelor pad into a good starter home for someone. It's trying to get her to be realistic that's the hard part heh.
