M5 Inside lane ban?

What would help is if you were a considerate driver and move into lane 2 when traffic is joining the motorway. That way its just the lorries what vehicles joining the motorway need to navigate round.
In my experience, lorries are far more likely to move over (when safe to do so) for someone trying to join the motorway than car drivers are.
Of course it's a lot harder to change lanes in a lorry and needs a lot more space, but they still put the effort in0 -
More naughty, but also more effective is to wait for someone to start overtaking them in lane 3, then undertake them, keeping pace with the L3 person such that you both pop into their field of vision simultaneously.
Maybe we should pool resources and fit some Boadicea Chariot Wheel Spikes and rip his little house apart on the way past

Is it more considerate for a driver to move to lane 2, than it is for a joining driver to adjust his speed accordingly so as not to require that driver to move?
People who cannot safely join a motorway should not be driving.0 -
Driver attitude is a great killer, seems to me like some of you have " bad attitude "..
All drivers that are legal, have as much right to use the road as any other legal driver, be they towing a caravan, driving a HGV or even just a car.
The moronic Clarkson has a lot to answer for.0 -

If you take notice the lines that seperate the m-way from the slip road is a GIVE WAY line.
So therefore the driver jioning the m- way is to you guessed it Give way to traffiic ON the M-waySpending my time reading how to fix PC's,instead of looking at Facebook.0 -
Less naughty, but more humourous is to overtake in lane 3, pull back to lane 1 and slow down to let them pass, then overtake again. Repeat until they get the message/bored.
5 laps to beat.
Awesome, we have local sections of the A12 that are three lanes between certain junctions. Some people never use the inside lane because they know it's going off in 5 miles time and heaven forbid they go to the effort of pulling into it when it appears and back out later. I'll have to try this one.
My bug-bear - car's pulling out to overtake right in front of me, forcing me to brake, when there's nothing in sight behind me for miles. If I'm in a constant stream of traffic in the outside I don't mind people pushing out, and will usually let them out. But why why why is it necessary when they could just wait for me to pass grrr.0 -

I agree with you in principle, another one of my pet peeves is being stuck behind someone on a slip road who wont match speed with lane 1. Bonus points if they drive to the end of the sliproad and then stop.
However on a suitably busy motorway where all the lanes are full the only way you're getting on is if someone chooses to let you, and even if it's not busy a little kindness and courtesy never did any harm.0 -

So that means you stop at the line if you can't get on? I don't think so!:p IIRC, the highway code states that drivers in lane 1 should pull out to let cars that wish to join merge, but only if it is safe to do so. Otherwise, slow down.Northern Ireland club member No 382 :j0 -
My pet hate (In Northern Ireland, so probably most of you don't know it!) is where the M2 and M5 diverge. M2 is queued well back, so loads of people just fly up the M5, and then attempt to cut in just before they diverge, causing even more tail-backs! I would usually just force them out by keeping about 3 inches off the car in front!
