Why do the shed dragging middle lane hogging bell ends need a special test??

They should do exactly the same test as you do in a car but with their shed attached, complete with 3 point turns, reversing around corners and parallel parking.

If they can't do it, take, not only their plywood shed, but take their driving license off them.

Only give it back after a course of medication has cured them of their perverse attraction to their little swinging conventions at the back of an old farmers field.
    Firm but fair.

I drive up an down the M5 quite a bit (I'm not a rep).

Normally it is small sized family cars (fiesta size) that hog the middle lane. I don't see caravans do it much, but then I stay off the M5 on bank holiday weekends.

I like the M5 best before 6am, it generally doesn't happen then.

I too drive up and down the M5 a lot, since I have a lot of customers in the north of England (also not a rep... field engineer) It tends to mainly be cars that are more intended as city cars that do it and it's significantly worse on Fridays and even worse on holiday weekends.

My theory is that it's basically people who don't use the motorway on a regular basis and frankly don't have a clue what they are doing. Also Londoners because if you stay on the inside lane on any major road in London you'll find it turns into an exit within 30 yards and no !!!!!! will let you change lanes.

It's usually ok after 8 or 9 PM too. Night driving is great because everyone on the road knows that they and everyone else has a job to do, so people help each other out and get out of the way of faster moving cars. Apart from there's usually one Rover 75 or Vauxhall Corsa doing 50 in the middle lane with their full beams on.

Are there no blind spots on the other side, then?

Same principle applies whatever side you pass on. Plenty of drivers don't check either mirror before moving.

Even fewer check their blind spots

    Under taking is very dangerous

I lived in the US for five years and it worked just fine there - no problem at all. Why can't we do it too?

American motorways are a lot quieter than ours. The cities are rammed but out in 'the country' they are far more busy here.

I sooooooooooo don't miss my middle of the night commute :T:T:T

(Usually managed to use all 3 lanes and take the racing line for about 100 of the 150 motorway miles :D)

You seem to have been indoctrinated by too much of that Clarkson bilge.
  • They could just to a Top Gear on all the caravans. There - fixed. No more middle lane shed hoggers, and gives us something to watch on TV! :D

The thing that bothers me about caravans is simple. How much do they cost and how many nights in a hotel could you get for the same money and not have to empty your own toilet.
